Job Description

About the Company

MetaComp Pte. Ltd. is Asia's pioneer in unified Web2.5 digital financial solutions, bridging fiat and stablecoin capabilities across payments, treasury, and wealth management. As a Major Payment Institution licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), MetaComp serves over 1,000 institutional clients globally, with a monthly run rate exceeding US$1 billion. Backed by leading investors, we are building the foundational infrastructure for hybrid finance – seamlessly integrating traditional payment rails with blockchain and stablecoin networks.

Our proprietary VisionX AML/CFT intelligence engine aggregates multiple blockchain analytics vendors to deliver near‑zero false clean rates for high‑risk transactions.

Role Overview

This is an operational role within our Transaction Monitoring team, forming part of the First Line of Defense against financial crime. The team is responsible for the day‑to‑day review, investigation, and escalation of transaction alerts generated by our monitoring systems across both fiat and digital asset payment channels.

All analysts are expected to handle alerts across a full spectrum of complexity – from straightforward rule‑based reviews to more intricate cases involving cross‑jurisdictional flows, blockchain tracing, or layered transaction patterns. We provide comprehensive training and ongoing mentorship, enabling every team member to grow into handling increasingly sophisticated investigations.

The team operates independently from the Compliance function (Second Line), which sets policies, standards, and ultimately files Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs/STRs) based on our recommendations.

Location: Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur or remote within Malaysia)

Employment Type: Full-time

Department: Financial Crimes Operations – Transaction Monitoring

Reporting to: AML Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

Transaction Monitoring & Alert Handling

· Monitor and review system‑generated alerts from the AML/CFT platform, covering both on‑chain (blockchain) and off‑chain (fiat) transactions.

· Conduct thorough assessments of customer activity, using internal KYC data, transaction histories, and open‑source intelligence.

· Identify patterns indicative of money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, or sanctions exposure.

· Triage alerts based on predefined rules and typologies, making clear dispositions (clear, monitor, or escalate).

Investigation & Escalation

· Perform end‑to‑end investigations on assigned alerts, gathering relevant context and evidence – from initial data collection to in‑depth analysis of transaction flows and customer behaviour.

· Document investigation findings, rationale, and recommended actions in the case management system.

· Escalate confirmed suspicious activities or unresolved complex cases to the Second Line (Compliance) for final review and potential SAR/STR filing.

Operational Excellence

· Work efficiently to meet daily case volumes and service level agreements (SLAs).

· Maintain accurate, audit‑ready records for all reviews and decisions.

· Identify recurring false positives or system inefficiencies and suggest improvements to enhance alert quality and operational efficiency.

· Participate in regular training on emerging financial crime typologies, especially those involving stablecoins and cross‑border flows.

Minimum Requirements

· Experience: 2–5 years of experience in transaction monitoring, AML operations, fraud investigation, or similar operational roles within financial services, fintech, or payments.

· Knowledge: Solid understanding of AML/CFT regulations, financial crime typologies, and payment transaction lifecycles across both fiat and digital assets – including stablecoin ecosystems and Web3/blockchain‑based transaction flows.

· Analytical Skills: Ability to quickly absorb large volumes of data, spot anomalies, and make risk‑based decisions.

· Attention to Detail: High accuracy in documentation and case handling.

· Communication: Strong written and spoken English – clear, concise, and professional.

· Tech Skills: Proficient with case management systems, Excel, and basic blockchain explorers (e.g., Etherscan, Solscan).

· Independence: Capable of managing own workload and prioritising tasks in a high‑volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications

· Location: Based in Malaysia (or willing to work Malaysia hours). Familiarity with Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines is a plus.

· Languages: Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.

· Certifications: ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent AML certification (or willingness to obtain).

· Blockchain Tools: Hands‑on experience with KYT platforms (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM Labs) is a strong advantage.

· Fraud Awareness: Knowledge of fraud schemes (e.g., APP fraud, identity theft, account takeover) is beneficial.
