About the Role
Platform integrity at scale demands experienced compliance leaders who can navigate genuine complexity. We are looking for a Transaction Monitoring & KYC Team Lead with deep, practical expertise across both transaction monitoring and KYC disciplines — someone capable of leading a high-performing team, independently handling the most complex cases, and driving cross-functional collaboration to keep compliance operations running at the highest standard.
This is a hands-on leadership role at the intersection of financial crime prevention and virtual asset compliance.
What You'll Do
- Leverage deep expertise in transaction monitoring and KYC to detect money laundering and illicit financial activity through thorough analysis of complex transaction patterns and customer data
- Take ownership of high-risk and complex case investigations, producing rigorous analytical reports and acting as the primary risk judgment authority on the team
- Lead, coach, and develop team members through regular feedback, performance reviews, and structured mentoring to continuously raise team capability
- Oversee scheduling and shift coverage to maintain seamless operations across time zones
- Act as the primary point of contact for cross-departmental and international compliance team coordination on monitoring and KYC workflows
- Identify and drive improvements to existing transaction monitoring and KYC processes, procedures, and tooling
- Maintain quality control standards across all team output and analytical reporting
- Deliver regular work summaries and compliance reporting, including escalations to senior stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Law, Economics, Computer Science, or a related discipline; ACAMS, CAMS, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred
- 5+ years of AML, transaction monitoring, or KYC experience within a financial institution or virtual asset business
- 2+ years of direct team lead or people management experience within a compliance function
- Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin
- Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end transaction monitoring and KYC lifecycle, with demonstrated ability to independently assess complex transaction and customer risk
- Strong working knowledge of crypto industry risk typologies and applicable regulatory frameworks
- Hands-on proficiency with data analysis and compliance monitoring tools
- Demonstrated track record of leading, developing, and performance-managing compliance teams in demanding environments
- Effective cross-functional communicator with experience working alongside international compliance teams
- High professional integrity, accountability, and the resilience to sustain performance in a high-intensity environment
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Prior experience at a cryptocurrency exchange or virtual asset service provider (VASP)
- Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance frameworks
- A track record of owning or leading compliance process improvement initiatives
