Role Description
We are looking for passionate and hands-on Urban Farm Interns to join our team and gain real-world experience in indoor and outdoor hydroponic farming. This is an on-site internship where you will assist with daily farm operations, including plant care, harvesting, packing, and maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the farm. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about sustainable agriculture and innovative farming technologies.
Responsibilities:
Plant Care
- Assist with sowing, transplanting, and harvesting crops.
- Help monitor plant health and identify issues like pests or diseases.
- Learn and support Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices in a controlled environment.
Farm Maintenance
- Help maintain growing areas, equipment, tools, and nutrient systems to optimize plant growth.
- Support routine cleaning and sanitation tasks around the farm.
Harvesting and Packing
- Participate in the harvesting of crops, post-harvest cleaning, packaging, and prepping for distribution.
Record Keeping
- Assist with data entry related to plant growth, farm activities, and inventory management.
Farm Operations
- Provide support in running errands or assisting in tasks across different farm locations (transportation may be arranged or reimbursed).
Required Skills and Qualifications
- SPM or equivalent qualification & above preferred.
- Basic knowledge or interest in plant science, agriculture, or horticulture.
- Willingness to follow instructions and work well in a team.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping (e.g., spreadsheets, data entry).
- Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift objects, and work in various weather conditions.
- Openness to learning new farming technologies and sustainable practices.
- Flexibility and ability to travel between farm locations if required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing tasks accurately.
- Self-motivated problem solver who can work with minimal supervision.
