The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Purchasing Department to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing of all direct and indirect materials required for manufacturing operations. This role oversees vendor management, cost optimization, and team development, while ensuring procurement activities align with food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing of all direct and indirect materials for manufacturing operations, ensuring supply continuity and cost efficiency.
- Oversee the full vendor management lifecycle, including supplier identification, selection, and development; contract negotiation and execution; and ongoing supplier performance management.
- Lead, guide, and mentor the procurement team, building capability and ensuring competitive material cost, consistent purchase quality, and adherence to procurement best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement process to enhance efficiency, cost savings, and supplier reliability.
- Review and support the implementation of Food Safety Management Systems, including HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000, BRC, IFS, and HALAL requirements, ensuring supplier and material compliance.
- Manage and develop purchasing department team members, including performance guidance, training, and succession planning.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply risks to proactively manage procurement strategy.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Production, Warehouse, and Finance departments to align procurement activities with operational needs.
- Ensure procurement documentation, contracts, and supplier records are properly maintained and audit-ready.
Requirements
- Diploma and above in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience in the food industry.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring a purchasing team.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and leadership skills.
