Job Description

Join Our Shore Based Robotics Team – USV Technician / Asset Management Lead (ROV & USV) – Full Time Employment

OMS Group is a global, neutral, and integrated telecommunications infrastructure service provider, delivering end-to-end solutions across the digital value chain. From Submarine Cable Installation and Marine Maintenance to Cable Landing Stations, Network Backhaul, and Data Centre Connectivity, we are at the forefront of connecting the world. Our capabilities in Submarine Cable Installation and Marine Maintenance comprises installation and repair of deep and shallow water fibre-optic cable systems, shore end installation, engineering and subsea surveys.

We are hiring for two key roles within our shore-based robotics and marine operations team: USV Technician and Asset Management Lead (ROV & USV). These roles are critical in ensuring the readiness, reliability, and safe operation of our Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV) and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems supporting subsea and offshore survey operations.

Depending on experience, candidates will be considered for either a USV Technician or Asset Lead (ROV & USV) role. This is a field-based, hands-on technical role covering vessel readiness, troubleshooting, maintenance execution, and offshore operational support.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare USV/ROV systems for operations, including inspections, pre-start checks, and system readiness verification
  • Ensure all safety-critical systems, interlocks, and controls are fully operational prior to deployment
  • Execute planned and preventative maintenance to ensure asset reliability and readiness
  • Support mobilisation, demobilisation, and occasional field deployment activities
  • Provide technical support to offshore and remote operations teams (ROC)
  • Perform troubleshooting, defect reporting, and corrective maintenance activities
  • Ensure defects are tracked, resolved, and closed out effectively
  • Maintain propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, battery, and control systems
  • Support ROV systems including winches, TMS, launch & recovery systems, and subsea tools (Asset Lead focus)
  • Coordinate OEM support, repairs, upgrades, and system improvements
  • Maintain asset records, maintenance logs, and spares inventory
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies, risk assessments, LOTO, permits, and safe systems of work

What you should have:

  • Marine engineering qualification (EOOW / MEOL or equivalent)
  • Valid STCW certification and medical fitness
  • 8-10 years of marine, offshore, or vessel-based technical roles
  • Strong experience in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Exposure to USV, ROV, offshore robotics, or survey systems is highly preferred
  • Ability to work in structured maintenance environments (not ad-hoc freelance setups)
  • Strong troubleshooting and field problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with telemetry, diagnostics, and OEM systems is an advantage
  • Strong safety discipline and compliance mindset

Location: Tanjung Langsat, Johor

Join a cutting-edge shore-based robotics team working with USVs and ROV systems in real subsea operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and success of unmanned marine missions in challenging offshore environments.
