Job Description

Job Purpose : Assist Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of CIMB Singapore and ASEAN Emerging Markets in planning, developing, refining and executing transformational strategic risk projects and strategies, including driving change management projects, in line with the strategic goals of CIMB ASEAN Emerging Markets, i.e. CIMB Cambodia, CIMB Vietnam and CIMB Philippines.

Risk Strategy and Planning

  • Facilitate the integration of risk considerations into strategic planning for ASEAN Emerging Markets, ensuring consistent execution of risk strategy, appetite, framework, methodologies and standards across countries with Group Risk COEs support.
  • Monitor key risks and thematic trends across ASEAN Emerging Markets, highlighting emerging issues and tracking remediation or resolution of identified risks.
  • Support the development of risk-related plans and strategies for ASEAN Emerging Markets through collaborative planning sessions with internal or external stakeholders (including country risk teams and Group Risk COEs), and monitor project plans to achieve risk objectives.
  • Oversee the execution and monitor progress of risk projects, country-led risk initiatives and remediation plans within ASEAN Emerging Markets, ensuring alignment with project timelines, KPI scorecards, and local regulations and Group risk framework, methodologies, appetites and standards.

CRO Support and Advisory

  • Coordinate and manage day-to-day risk-related activities for ASEAN Emerging Markets on behalf of CRO, including facilitating key meetings between Country Risk teams and Group Risk COEs.
  • Monitor credit appetite and key risk metrics (both financial and non-financial) across ASEAN Emerging Markets to ensure alignment with risk strategy and appetite.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and proactive monitoring of Credit Risk Provision, RWA, and capital planning metrics to support strategic decision-making and capital adequacy objectives.
  • Provide strategic advisory and insightful guidance to country risk committees, working groups, forums or steering committees on change management process or projects specifically addressing risk-related matters.
  • Assist CRO in preparing presentations and other management documents related to ASEAN Emerging Markets for regulators / senior management / audit / risk townhalls / EXCOs.
  • Attend to other ad-hoc risk-related requests as delegated by CRO to support strategic priorities and governance objectives.

Budget Management

  • Lead the annual operational expense budgeting process for risk-related operational expenses in ASEAN Emerging Markets, ensuring accurate tracking, monitoring and reporting of expenses against approved budgets.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Provide support to country risk teams in addressing local regulatory requirements and audit on risk-related issues or findings, ensuring risk practices of ASEAN Emerging Markets are in compliance with the applicable banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Stay abreast of evolving industry practice, regulations, and best practices across ASEAN Emerging Markets to ensure risk management practices remain compliant and adaptable to changing standards.

  • Driving and promoting risk culture in partnership with country risk teams, ensuring awareness of risk and conduct standards, and supporting continuous improvement in risk practices.

Others

  • Relevant professional qualifications, e.g. FRM, CFA or other recognized risk certifications will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Risk management in large regional institutions.
  • Minimum 5 years in a managerial capacity, with proven track records in leading risk initiatives and coordinating with senior stakeholders across multiple markets.
  • Proven experience in risk management within the banking or financial industry, with a focus on strategy and planning.
  • Well-versed in banking industry and regulatory standards such as Basel, BNM, MAS etc.
