The Bank provides easy access to its broad base of customers throughout the country via multi-pronged delivery channels that include retail branches, Privilege Banking Centres, Business Centres, and Digital banking services.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our Group Sustainability department under Group Strategy & Transformation division as a Vice President, Group Sustainability.

The Role

A successful candidate in this position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive the Bank's Sustainability agenda and to facilitate sustainability transformation / change management within business and operations across the Bank. Also, responsible for managing the Sustainability Project Management Office (PMO) to monitor sustainability projects to ensure that clear guidance and advice is provided to project teams and to keep the initiatives on track.

Job Description

Sustainability Strategy Management

  • Develop and maintain the Group's sustainability strategy framework and initiate annual planning to achieve set sustainability goals, in line with regulatory requirements.
  • To lead the integration of sustainability/climate-related considerations in business operations, decision making and risk management.

Manage the Sustainability Project Management Office

  • To coordinate, manage, track and escalate issues; and ensure adequate support and resources for all sustainability initiatives.

Stakeholder Management and Communications Plan

  • Lead engagement with external parties (i.e. NGOs, socially responsible investors, consultants) to advance the Bank's sustainability goals.
  • Apprise the Board, Group Sustainability Committee, Sustainability Steering Committee and Management Committee on the progress of sustainability initiatives on a periodic, regular and/or need basis.
  • Articulation of sustainability messages to internal and external stakeholders, including through sustainability reports.
  • Monitor and guide team and work closely with stakeholders in the preparation of the company ESG report.
  • Develop constructive and strong working relationships with the Lines of Business (LOBs).

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure regulatory compliance by anticipating regulatory trends and their implications. Establish adherence to sustainability regulations that apply to the banking industry.
  • Provide advice to stakeholders / LOBs and develop internal policies and processes.

Build Organizational Capabilities

  • Drive sustainability transformation / change management to embed sustainability and climate related considerations within business and operations across bank wide divisions.
  • Lead the department to function as a Centre of Excellence to share and disseminate knowledge and best practices.
  • To work closely with LOBs to identify gaps and adopt appropriate training/educational initiatives for upskilling.
  • Embed Sustainability into processes and decision making by recommending/revising key processes and related criteria/metrics for decisions.
  • Ensure the Bank is on par with peers on sustainability initiatives and meets market expectations and regulatory requirements.

Other functions

  • Administration of sustainability functions including administration of office, staff guidance and development, and budgets.
  • Other activities to support the Bank's sustainability goals.

Human Resources

  • Develop sustainable succession planning for potential staff
  • Groom, train and develop staff
  • Arrange staff training for competency and skillset development
  • Recruiting, accessing, training and managing staff

Education / Knowledge

Experience

  • Degree/Master's degree qualification holder in either finance, economics or environment management
  • Must have at least 10 years experience in financial services and/or sustainability
  • Must have experience leading teams/projects
