Key Responsibilities
IBM i System Administrator
- Define and communicate, at the architecture and design level, technical solutions that are aligned with business objectives.
- Provide direction for keeping engagements aligned to the bank and GIS strategy with implementation best practices and gives hands-on assistance with the detailed design and implementation phases of engagements through recommendations, points of view and documentation.
Functional
- Responsible for administrating and maintaining the reliable operation of various enterprise systems platforms
- Responsible for the availability & capacity planning of the banks AS/400 systems
- Storage Management
Responsible for the availability & capacity planning of the banks IBM Enterprise External Storage
o PowerHA System Mirroring (for Storage Replication/DR)
o Advance Copy Services (ACS) point-in-time copy of data – flashcopy
- To assist team members in areas of Wintel, UNIX & Oracle Virtualization (OVM)
People and Talent
- Strong stakeholder management skills in handling wide-ranging and senior stakeholders across segments/product areas
Risk Management
- Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk,
Governance Management
Be the Gate-Keeper of the technical solution delivery ensuring best practices, ensures the governance of the process is followed
Incident Management:
- Configure and provide technical support and incident response for IT security infrastructure components.
- Ensure incidents are worked within the agreed SLA.
- Adhere to incident management process and drive incident resolution with minimal supervision.
- Escalate high-priority chases to Incident managers.
Change Management:
- Create change record, draft change implementation steps & implement the changes (Break/fix & non-break/fix).
Problem Management:
- Work with other support towers to identify the root cause and perform technical root cause analysis for incidents/
Co-ordinate or lead permanent solutions /improvements identified during RCA.
Technologies and Strategy Management
- Progressively self-study and exploration of new world-class technologies by reviewing, aligning, and implementing:-
§ Product comparison
§ Strategy planning for system and operational process enhancement
Evolve or tech refresh to the system
Requirement
- IBM i system
- PowerHA System Mirroring (for Storage Replication/DR)
- Advance Copy Services (ACS) especially flashcopy-related knowledge
- Storage technologies (SAN/NAS/iSCSI) with technical background in all the supported platforms
- Basic knowledge of hybrid & cloud systems concept
- Understanding of virtualization technologies and their role in hybrid environments.
- Knowledge of IT best practices and frameworks (e.g. ITIL)
- Awareness of risk management, regulatory requirements (BNM), and internal audit compliance
- Understanding of system monitoring, troubleshooting, and log analysis
- Awareness of industry standards and emerging technologies to support continuous improvement and innovation
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IBM i and related device administrations, e.g. SAN switch, etc.
- Familiar with DSCLI and IBM storage, e.g. DS8K
- Experience in IBM MQ management
- Experience in IBM BRMS management
- Experience in IBM PowerHA related tasks, e.g. flashcopy, role-swap, etc.
- Team lead/project manager for IBM i tech refresh projects
- Good in CL programming, SQL
- Exposure in cloud/hybrid environments is an added advantage
- Good exposure on technologies involved for IBM i integration with other platforms
- Strong experience in system documentation, including administration procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles
