The VMware VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation) Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the organization's private cloud infrastructure built on VMware Cloud Foundation. This role requires deep expertise in vSphere, vSAN, NSX‑T, SDDC Manager, and lifecycle automation. The engineer will collaborate with Cloud, Security, Network, and Application teams to deliver secure, resilient, and compliant infrastructure platforms supporting mission‑critical insurance workloads such as claims, underwriting, policy administration, and actuarial systems.
VCF Platform Engineering
Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation components (vSphere, vSAN, NSX‑T, SDDC Manager).
Manage workload domains, cluster creation, host commissioning, and lifecycle operations.Implement VCF architecture for high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.
Maintain vCenter, ESXi hosts, vSAN storage policies, and NSX‑T networking.
Automation & Lifecycle Management
Use SDDC Manager for patching, upgrades, and lifecycle automation across VCF components.
Automate provisioning using PowerCLI, Python, and Terraform.Implement configuration standards and compliance checks across clusters.
Networking & Security
Configure NSX‑T for micro‑segmentation, distributed firewall, overlay networks, and load balancing.
Implement network security policies aligned with insurance regulatory requirements.Integrate VCF with external firewalls, identity systems, and monitoring platforms.
Storage & Performance
Manage vSAN clusters, storage policies, fault domains, and performance tuning.
Troubleshoot vSAN health issues, latency, and cluster imbalance.Optimize storage for insurance workloads (claims processing, policy systems, analytics).
Monitoring & Reliability
Configure monitoring using vRealize Operations, Log Insight, or Tanzu Observability.
Troubleshoot ESXi, NSX‑T, vSAN, and SDDC Manager issues.Implement backup and DR strategies using SRM, vSphere Replication, or third‑party tools.
Collaboration & Governance
Work with Cloud and Security teams to enforce governance, tagging, and compliance frameworks.
Partner with App‑Dev teams to onboard workloads into VCF‑based private cloud.Document platform architecture, SOPs, and incident RCA reports.
VMware Cloud Foundation
Strong experience with VCF architecture, workload domains, SDDC Manager, and lifecycle automation.
Deep knowledge of vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and NSX‑T.
Networking & Security
Expertise in NSX‑T (DFW, micro‑segmentation, Tier‑0/Tier‑1 gateways, overlay networks).
Understanding of network segmentation, firewalling, and insurance compliance requirements.
Automation & DevOps
Experience with PowerCLI, Python, Terraform, and automation pipelines.
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code patterns.
Monitoring & Operations
Experience with vRealize Operations, Log Insight, and capacity planning.
Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, network, and storage layers.
Non‑Technical Requirements
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and cross‑team collaboration.Ability to translate infrastructure concepts for business stakeholders.
