Job Purpose
- Support the HOD and Unit Lead in driving effective monitoring, control, and governance of GL reconciliation and closing balances, ensuring high-quality reporting, strong analytical insights, and robust control frameworks.
- The VP plays a hands-on leadership role, ensuring execution excellence, timely escalation of issues, accurate management reporting, and alignment with bank-wide policies, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
1. Monitoring & Review & Validation
- Perform detailed review of GL reconciliation outputs (L1 & L2) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Track and monitor aged/unresolved reconciliation items and proactively escalate key risks.
- Validate reconciliation quality and ensure adherence to Drive to Zero principles.
- Support the Lead in consolidating and validating reporting before escalation to stakeholders
2. Dashboard & Management Reporting
- Lead preparation of monthly MYMC dashboards, including analysis of open items and ageing balances.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and timeliness of submissions across teams.
- Provide insightful commentary on abnormal balances and key risk areas.
- Partner with L1/L2 teams to improve data quality and reporting discipline.
3. Analytics & Control Enhancement
- Perform analytical reviews of GL balances and reconciliation trends.
- Develop and implement validation checks and control mechanisms to strengthen reconciliation processes.
- Identify process gaps and improvement opportunities, and drive remediation initiatives.
- Support transformation initiatives for automation and efficiency
4. Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key liaison with Business Units (BU), Business Enablers (BE), and Finance teams to ensure account ownership clarity and resolution accountability.
- Support discussions on accounting treatments, reconciliation ownership, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with COA and other governance teams to ensure consistency with accounting structures and policies.
5. Write-Off / Write-Back Governance
- Consolidate, review and challenge write-off/write-back proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Support preparation of management papers, summaries, and approval documentation.
- Track proposal status and ensure timely closure across stakeholders.
7. Others
- Handle other ad-hoc tasks/projects as assigned.
Job Specification
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or Accounting Professional Qualification.
Relevant Work Experience
- Skills in financial, planning & analysis, with more than 10 years of working experience in finance or relevant industry
Required Competencies and Skills
Technical/Functional skills
- Sound accounting technical knowledge with an in-depth understanding of Accounting Standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational abilities.
- Possess advanced understanding & knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Access will be an added advantage
Personal skills (Soft Competencies [Core/Leadership])
- Good motivator to the team to insipire them to produce the required results.
- Strong comunicating skills, required in guiding and assisting Business partners to reach outcome for both parties.
