Job Description

Job Summary:

Lead and manage a team of Wealth Relationship Managers to drive growth in wealth management products and services for high-net-worth clients, ensuring the achievement of sales targets and superior client experience within United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd.

Job Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Performance:

  • Recruit, train, coach, and motivate a team of Wealth Relationship Managers to achieve individual and team sales targets for wealth management products (e.g., unit trusts, insurance, structured products, treasury products).
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and develop individual development plans for team members.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on client acquisition, retention, and deepening client relationships.

Business Development & Sales Strategy

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and initiatives to expand the wealth management client base and increase assets under management (AUM).
  • Identify new market opportunities and collaborate with product teams to tailor solutions for high-net-worth clients.
  • Drive cross-selling and up-selling opportunities across the bank's product offerings.

Client Relationship Management

  • Oversee the team's management of key client relationships, ensuring a consistently high level of service and client satisfaction.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex client issues and provide expert advice on wealth management solutions.
  • Periodically engage with key clients to strengthen relationships and gather feedback.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards related to wealth management and banking operations.
  • Monitor team activities to mitigate operational and compliance risks. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and market developments.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Monitor and analyze team performance against KPIs, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on sales performance, AUM growth, client segmentation, and other relevant metrics.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate effectively with other departments such as Product Development, Legal & Compliance, Operations, and other business units to ensure seamless client service and integrated solutions.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFP, ChFC, CMSRL) are highly advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in wealth management or a similar client-facing role within the financial services industry, with at least 1 -2 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Proven track record of consistently achieving and exceeding sales targets in wealth management products.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, risk management, and regulatory frameworks relevant to wealth management in Malaysia.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence high-net-worth individuals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
  • Possession of relevant licenses and certifications required by regulatory bodies in Malaysia (e.g., FIMM, BNM).
