Purchasing Executive / Buyer

Location: Bayan Lepas, Penang

Employment Type: Full-time, On-site

Salary: RM2,500–RM6,000 per month, depending on experience

Wafer Plus Sdn. Bhd. is looking for a hands-on Purchasing Executive / Buyer to support our sapphire wafer manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Source direct materials, indirect consumables, equipment spare parts, MRO items and technical services.

• Obtain and compare quotations based on price, specification, quality, lead time, payment terms and total landed cost.

• Negotiate prices, commercial terms and delivery schedules with local and overseas suppliers.

• Issue and track purchase orders, expedite urgent deliveries and prevent material shortages.

• Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Warehouse and Finance.

• Maintain accurate purchasing records in the ERP system and resolve invoice or delivery discrepancies.

• Evaluate supplier performance and support quality claims, returns and corrective actions.

• Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality or production continuity.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.

• Ideally 1–5 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, electronics or precision engineering.

• Strong negotiation, quotation-analysis and supplier-management skills.

• Proficient in Excel and familiar with ERP or purchasing systems.

• Able to understand technical specifications, BOMs and equipment spare-part requirements.

• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

• Mandarin is an advantage for coordination with China-based suppliers.

• Organized, responsible and able to manage urgent requirements independently.
