About The Role
The
Wafer Test Process Engineering Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing wafer test processes to ensure high-quality, stable, and efficient semiconductor manufacturing.
This role focuses on process development, yield improvement, product qualification, and continuous improvement, while ensuring alignment across equipment, systems, and manufacturing operations.
What You Will Do
New Process & Product Qualification
- Plan and schedule qualification activities for wafer test processes in new R&D and new package introduction projects
- Execute process and product qualifications within committed timelines
- Lead overall process integration, including IT systems, to ensure smooth end-to-end manufacturing flow
- Collaborate with Business Group (BG) teams to validate, modify, and align test programs with specifications
- Set up engineering lots, collect test data, and generate qualification reports
Yield Improvement & Line Sustaining
- Sustain wafer test yield above designated targets
- Ensure timely quality release of Lots on Hold (LOH)
- Analyze LOH generation, assign improvement actions, and drive yield recovery rate (LRR) improvements
- Follow up on improvement actions, monitor effectiveness, and close loops with cross-functional teams
- Drive backend test quality system improvements
- Support ICAR reduction initiatives for assigned products or projects
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in process robustness and performance
- Drive cost savings through process optimization and simplification
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational quality goals
- Conduct testing, analyze results, and identify improvement opportunities
- Participate in training to stay updated on industry best practices
Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) Projects
- Plan and execute MVA projects within committed timelines
- Drive cost reduction initiatives to reduce Die Free Package Cost (DFPC)
Audit & Customer Return
- Support customer audits and quality reviews
- Handle customer returns, including 8D reporting, lot mapping, and CAPA execution
- Follow up on QA audit findings and ensure effective closure
- Support investigation of customer complaints and internal quality incidents
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and submit reports on process and yield performance
- Develop and maintain process documentation (SOP, OCAP, TCM, FMEA, SOJT, Control Plan)
Technical Support & Collaboration
- Plan and implement system upgrades or modifications to improve performance
- Provide technical support to operations and production teams
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for process improvements
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure processes meet product quality and safety requirements
- Comply with all relevant safety and regulatory standards
What You Will Need
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma (LSS) or PMP are an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor industry with ATE (Automated Test Equipment)
- Strong experience in wafer test processes
- Experience in test process engineering or similar role
- Project management and statistical data analysis skills
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred
- Programming skills in C/C++ are required
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical and test engineering concepts (including wafer/strip testing)
- Ability to design and execute effective test procedures
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills (root cause analysis, why-why analysis)
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Detail-oriented and proactive
- Able to optimize processes and work under pressure
- Fluent in English
