DUG is looking for a Windows Infrastructure Engineer to join our global team.
We are a global leader in High-Performance Computing (HPC). While our foundation is built on Linux, our ambition is to provide a Windows platform which provides a critical interface for our global clients. We are seeking a Windows Infrastructure Engineer to act as the primary Architect and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Windows ecosystem.
This isn't just a desktop support role; you will be bridging two worlds, ensuring seamless integration between Windows VDI environments and our massive Linux-based compute clusters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Big-picture Windows topics and strategy, such as:
- Providing clarity and strategy to executive stakeholders on the integration of Windows devices into a complex scientific Linux based environment
- Deployment of Windows VM and virtual desktop cluster
- Establishing enterprise grade Active Directory and domain administration
- Driver and security updates
- Day-to-day problem-solving for the DUG production and cluster environment
- Be part of the worldwide IT monitoring team
- Proactive and reactive maintenance and troubleshooting
- Monitoring and tuning performance
- Installation, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows infrastructure; particularly Windows VDI.
- Generating Windows templates for VM creation and provisioning.
- General IT assistance, such as:
- Windows laptops and virtual machines
- Improve system reliability by improving our Windows issue tracking, resolution, and prevention
- Serve as level-three support for otherwise unresolvable customer issues on Windows machines
- Undertake special assignments, ad-hoc projects and related duties as and when required
- Comply with the Company's HSE regulations and policies
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years in Windows Infrastructure or Systems Administration
- Hands-on experience with VDI technologies (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix, or Azure Virtual Desktop)
- Good understanding and possess strong technical proficiency in Linux system administration
- Advanced proficiency in PowerShell; ability to navigate and script in Bash
- Professional Certification in LPIC 3 – Mixed Environment is a big plus
