Wire drawing (mechanical engineer)

About the role

As a Mechanical Engineer at xxx (M) Sdn Bhd, you will play a crucial role in the Wire Drawing, Hot

Rolling & Wire Extrusion Department. This full-time position is based in Shah Alam, Selangor, where

you will be responsible for managing and enhancing efficient wire processing operationsincluding

drawing, rolling, and extrusionto support the company's strategic objectives.

What you'll be doing

Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and control all activities affecting wire drawing, hot

rolling, and wire extrusion operations to ensure production targets are achieved, through

the review of production reports and implementing corrective measures where necessary.

Lead cost reduction programs, conduct product/process failure or reject analysis, and

implement improvement or countermeasure plans.

Establish work standards, guidelines, and process parameter specifications to control and

improve product quality.

Develop methodologies to prevent potential non-conformities and establish regular

checkpoints to ensure process reliability and consistency.

Perform equipment capability studies, process monitoring, and mechanical performance

analysis related to wire drawing, hot rolling, and extrusion processes.

Qualify and validate new machines, tools, dies, extrusion Molds, and materials.

Conduct technical training for departmental and cross-departmental staff on process

operations and equipment handling.

Coordinate and oversee calibration, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability

programs to ensure smooth production.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize mechanical processes, enhance

efficiency, and develop staff capabilities.

Ensure all mechanical systems and processes comply with ISO/IATF standards, quality,

safety, and environmental requirements.

Undertake other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Working experience in mechanical or production

engineering, especially in wire drawing, hot rolling, or wire extrusion industry, will be an

added advantage.

Strong knowledge in process improvement, project management, mechanical systems, and

equipment optimization.

Hands-on experience in manufacturing environments, especially in heavy machinery,

extrusion, or rolling mill operations.

Strong leadership, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Proficiency in process control, mechanical systems, instrumentation, and data analysis.

Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team and effectively communicate technical information.

Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and mechanical maintenance best

practices.
