Malaysia’s foundit Insights Tracker showed a 22% increase in hiring activity from July 2023 to July 2024, with the index rising from 78 in July 2023 to 95 in July 2024. The month-over-month growth also reflected a 10% rise from June 2024, indicating sustained hiring momentum.
Hiring Trends – Industry
9 out of 10 industries tracked saw annual growth in July 2024.
In Demand:
- Retail (+125%) led the sectors with strong e-commerce-driven growth.
- Logistics, Courier/Freight/Transportation, Shipping/Marine (+45%) and BFSI (+42%) also showed significant growth.
Facing Challenges:
- Production/Manufacturing, Automotive, and Ancillary (-10%) faced a decline year-over-year.
Hiring Trends – Functional Area
8 out of 10 functions tracked showed annual growth in July 2024.
In Demand:
- Sales & Business Development (+72%) and HR & Admin (+71%) saw the highest increases in demand.
- Engineering/Production (+54%) also reported strong growth.
Facing Challenges:
- Hospitality & Travel (-53%) faced a sharp decline.
