About This Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Accountant I to join our Asia Pacific Finance team, supporting the day-to-day accounting, reporting, and audit/tax compliance of our Malaysia entity. This is a newly created role as part of our regional in-house finance transition, offering hands-on exposure across the full accounting cycle — from bookkeeping and reconciliation to month-end close, audit and tax coordination, and business support.
Reporting to the Regional Controller, you will play a key part in ensuring accurate, timely financial records and smooth statutory audit and tax filing. Beyond the core duties, this role offers a clear growth path into financial review, analysis, and regional accounting exposure across other APAC countries — ideal for someone eager to build a broad, international finance career.
Responsibilities
Core Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and handle regional sales reports and supporting data for the business team.
- Prepare cash flow reports and forecasts on a regular basis.
- Perform bookkeeping and maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Handle billing and reconciliation, including partner/merchant verification.
- Process payment runs in line with approval and cut-off schedules.
- Support month-end close activities and related schedules.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Liaise with external auditors — prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and respond to audit queries to ensure timely statutory sign-off.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors on SST/CIT filings and related compliance matters, ensuring accurate and on-time submission.
- Support reconciliation of local book vs. Oracle ledger to maintain data integrity for audit and tax purposes.
Team & Business Support
- Maintain staff leave tracking and related administrative records.
- Support the Business Team on financial matters and ad-hoc queries.
Growth / Value-Added (as capability develops)
- Assist with financial review and analysis to support decision-making.
- Take on accounting matters for other APAC countries as experience grows.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2-3 years of relevant accounting / bookkeeping experience (candidates ready to move from audit/practice into a commercial role are welcome).
- Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle (AP, AR, GL, reconciliation, month-end).
- Experience liaising with auditors and/or tax advisors is highly valued.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; ERP experience (Oracle preferred).
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal. Mandarin is a plus.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
- A collaborative team player with a willingness to learn and grow across regional finance functions.
