Job Description

Company Overview

Outsourced is a leading ISO certified global offshore outsourcing company that provides dedicated remote staff to some of the world's leading international companies from Philippines, India, Colombia, Argentina, Vietnam and Malaysia. Outsourced is recognized as one of the Best Places to Work and has achieved Great Place to Work Certification. We are committed to providing a positive and supportive work environment where all staff can thrive. As an Outsourced staff member, you will enjoy a fun and friendly working environment, competitive salaries, opportunities for growth and development, work-life balance, and the chance to share your passion with a team of over 1000 talented professionals.

Role Overview

The practice is seeking an intermediate-level accounting professional who can take ownership of assigned work, follow established procedures and prepare accurate work for the Director's review. This is a hybrid accountant and bookkeeper position, with bookkeeping responsibilities expected to expand as the successful candidate becomes familiar with the practice.

Position Purpose

Provide dependable accounting production support that reduces the Director's involvement in routine preparation and processing, while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and clear documentation. Following training on the practice's standard operating procedures, the successful candidate should be able to progress assigned work independently to the review stage, identify gaps in client information and raise questions early rather than requiring continuous supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounting preparation and client data processing
  • Enter and maintain client accounting information accurately, including data supplied by clients who do not use Xero.
  • Review source records for completeness and consistency before processing.
  • Prepare manual journal entries with appropriate supporting explanations and documentation.
  • Complete assigned account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Organise supporting schedules and working papers so that the Director can review the work efficiently.
  • Document assumptions, missing information and matters requiring clarification.
  • Apply the practice's procedures consistently across assigned client files.
  • Self-managed superannuation fund accounting support
  • Assist with assigned SMSF accounting work using BGL and the practice's established procedures.
  • Process relevant fund data and supporting records within the scope allocated by the Director.
  • Prepare reconciliations and supporting schedules for review.
  • Identify incomplete documentation, unusual transactions or unresolved balances and escalate them promptly.
  • Keep SMSF files organised and maintain a clear trail of work completed and outstanding queries.
  • Bookkeeping, introduced progressively
  • Take on bookkeeping responsibilities as familiarity with the practice's systems and client requirements develops.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and complete routine reconciliations.
  • Identify coding issues, missing documentation and transactions requiring review.
  • Keep client records organised and ready for subsequent accounting work.
  • Coordinate with the Director and existing bookkeeping support to avoid duplicated work or missed tasks.
  • Work ownership and review readiness
  • Manage allocated tasks through to a clearly documented review-ready stage.
  • Perform self-checks before submitting work to the Director.
  • Maintain an up-to-date record of task status, outstanding information and agreed deadlines.
  • Separate routine matters that can be resolved independently from matters requiring technical guidance.
  • Incorporate review feedback into future work and update procedure notes where agreed.
  • Communicate promptly when a deadline is at risk or a task cannot proceed.
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Maintain frequent communication with Director during onboarding, using Teams orZoom as agreed.
  • Be available for daily check-ins initially if needed, with the cadence adjusted as independence develops.
  • Arrange mutually suitable discussions for complex work rather than relying solely on written handovers.
  • Provide concise updates covering completed work, current priorities, questions and blockers.
  • Work as a connected member of the practice, despite being based offshore.
  • Confidentiality and information security
  • Handle Australian client financial and personal information confidentially.
  • Follow the practice's and Outsourced's approved data protection, access and information-handling procedures.
  • Use only approved systems and channels for accessing, storing and sharing client information.
  • Keep access credentials secure and report suspected security incidents promptly.
  • Maintain a professional, secure working environment appropriate for sensitive financial work.

Candidate profile

  • Intermediate-level accounting capability, beyond an entry-level or junior profile.
  • Practical experience with journals, reconciliations and client accounting data processing.
  • Ability to work independently after training on the practice's procedures, while submitting completed work for Director review.
  • Familiarity with Xero as the practice's primary accounting platform.
  • Ability to support SMSF-related accounting work and learn the practice's BGL workflows.
  • Clear communication, willingness to ask focused questions and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail and a responsible approach to confidential client information.
  • A degree in Accounting, Accountancy or a related discipline, or equivalent practical accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting an Australian accounting practice or an Australian client portfolio.
  • Working knowledge of Australian accounting and tax terminology relevant to assigned work.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets for reconciliations, data checks and working papers.
  • Experience working with multiple client files and managing competing deadlines.
