Position: Analyst / Senior Analyst, Social Value Consultancy

Role Overview

We are looking for a curious, analytical, and socially conscious individual to join our growing

consultancy practice as an Analyst or Senior Analyst. You will play a hands-on role in conducting social value assessments, stakeholder research, and impact measurement for a diverse portfolio of clients across sectors.

This is an ideal role for someone with a background in the social sciences, development studies, anthropology, economics, or related fields, who is passionate about translating evidence into actionable insights that drive positive change.

Key Responsibilities

Social Value Research & Analysis

• Design and implement mixed-methods research frameworks combining qualit

ative and

quantitative approaches

• Conduct stakeholder interviews, focus group discussions, ethnographic observations, and

surveys to gather primary data

• Analyse social, economic, and environmental data to assess programme and organisational

outcomes

• Apply recognised social value methodologies including Social Return on Investment (SROI),

Theory of Change, and outcome mapping

• Synthesise complex findings into clear, evidence-based insights and recommendations

Client Engagement & Consultancy Delivery

• Support the delivery of social value assessments and impact reports for corporate, public sector, and non-profit clients

• Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions, community consultations, and co-design

workshops

Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and policy briefs for client and public audiences

• Contribute to proposal writing and business development activities

Knowledge & Thought Leadership

• Stay abreast of emerging trends in social value, ESG, impact measurement, and sustainable development

• Support the development of tools, frameworks, and methodologies that strengthen Social Value Malaysia's practice

• Contribute to knowledge-sharing, publications, and events that position the organisation as a sector leader

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Development Studies, Economics,

Public Policy, Environmental Studies, or a related social science discipline

• Candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds combining social sciences and data analytics

are strongly encouraged to apply

Experience

• Analyst: Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in research, consulting, impact

evaluation, or social development

• Senior Analyst: Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience with demonstrated ability to lead

research projects and manage client relationships

• Hands-on experience in both qualitative research (interviews, ethnography, focus groups, discourse analysis) and quantitative research (surveys, statistical analysis, data visualisation)

• Prior experience working with communities, marginalised groups, or on social impact

programmes in Malaysia or the region is an advantage

• Exposure to corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, or government social programmes is a plus

Skills & Competencies

• Strong research design and methodology skills across qualitative and quantitative t

raditions

• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, R, or similar; experience with NVivo

or qualitative coding software is a plus

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — ability to translate complex findings into

accessible narratives

• Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholder

groups

• Culturally sensitive, empathetic, and able to work effectively across communities and sectors

• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages (e.g., Mandarin, Tamil) are an advantage

Added Advantage

• Background in Anthropology or ethnographic research methodologies

• Familiarity with Social Return on Investment (SROI) or other social impact/

project/programme monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) frameworks

• Experience in policy research, programme evaluation, or development finance

• Understanding of Malaysia's socio-economic landscape, community structures, and social policy context
