Job Description

The AP Accountant is responsible for managing accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate and timely handling of vendor invoices, staff expense reimbursements, expense reports and related financial transactions. This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP), and the ability to communicate effectively in both Japanese and English.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and process expense claims in Concur
  • Review expense data transferred to the accounting system
  • Upload employee data into the accounting system
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding expense submissions
  • Input vendor invoices into the accounting system
  • Execute payment processing for vendor invoices
  • Handle inquiries regarding the procurement
  • Process new vendor registrations
  • Record acquisitions and disposals of fixed assets
  • Perform depreciation processing and necessary adjustments
  • Upload lease management system data into the accounting system
  • Record bank transactions and perform weekly bank reconciliations
  • Update the cash flow database based on the bank transactions
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations for relevant accounts
  • Input intercompany transactions
  • Manage accruals and prepayments
  • Assist in preparing tax-related reports
  • Create ad-hoc expense reports

Requirements:

Language Skills

  • Japanese: Native-level proficiency preferred. Certification is not required if the candidate can communicate smoothly in Japanese for daily team interactions
  • English: Business-level proficiency required for reading, writing, and professional communication

Experience

  • At least 1 year of accounting experience and 2+ years of general office work
  • Fresh graduates are not eligible; we seek candidates ready to contribute immediately
  • Practical experience is prioritized but Nissho Boki Level 2, partial CPA qualification, or an accounting degree is preferred
  • Experience working in a remote or offshore environment is highly valued.

Technical Skills

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, and SharePoint, and able to use them independently
  • Strong Excel skills: capable of creating reports, using formulas, and handling data
