The Application Solution Architect (Pre-Sales & Modernization) is a high-impact, technical, and client-facing role. You will be the primary technical advocate for customers, helping them reimagine legacy monolithic applications into modern, cloud-native architectures on AWS. You will lead the art of the possible discussions, design technical roadmaps, and support the sales cycle by proving the business value of AWS-driven digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre-Sales & Strategic Advisory
- Customer Discovery: Lead technical workshops to uncover business pain points, technical debt, and modernization goals.
- Solution Design: Create high-level architecture diagrams and Future State blueprints that align with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Proposal Development: Draft technical sections of RFPs/RFIs, including SOWs (Statements of Work), effort estimations, and pricing models.
- PoCs & Demos: Develop and present Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to demonstrate the feasibility of modernization strategies like refactoring or re-platforming.
2. Application Modernization Engineering
- Legacy Transformation: Guide customers on Refactoring and Rearchitecting.
- Monolith to Microservices: Design strategies to decompose monolithic applications into microservices using Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
- Cloud-Native Adoption: Implement modern patterns such as event-driven architecture, serverless (AWS Lambda), and container orchestration (EKS/ECS).
3. Technical Leadership & Governance
- Modernization Roadmaps: Develop phased migration and modernization plans that minimize business disruption and maximize ROI.
- Best Practices: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing strategies in a modernized environment.
- Stakeholder Management: Bridge the gap between CxOs (translating cloud benefits to business value) and Engineering teams (providing deep-dive technical specs).
Experience: 812+ years in IT, with at least 4+ years in a Solution Architecture role.
Modernization Expertise: Proven track record of transforming legacy (Java, .NET, Mainframe) applications into cloud-native architectures.
Communication: Exceptional whiteboarding and presentation skills.
