Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experiencedApplication Support Engineerto support a large-scale Data Center Migration and Infrastructure Transformation initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for application assessment, dependency analysis, migration planning, configuration validation, cutover support, post-migration stabilization, and stakeholder coordination.

The role requires close collaboration with Application, Infrastructure, Network, Database, Storage, Security, and Business teams to ensure successful migration and operational readiness of critical banking applications.

Key Responsibilities

Governance, Planning & Readiness

Application Assessment & Dependency Analysis

Identify and analyze applications hosted in the Data Center environment.
Categorize applications based on:
- Production and Disaster Recovery environments
- Business criticality levels
- Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
- Recovery Point Objective (RPO)
Conduct comprehensive application dependency mapping:
- Upstream and downstream systems
- External integrations
- API interfaces
- MQ services
- Service gateways
- Shared application services
Identify hardcoded dependencies including:
- IP addresses
- Hostnames
- VLAN configurations
- Firewall rules
- SSL/TLS certificate

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.
Validate environment segregation requirements.
Review application architecture against:
- Environment isolation standards
- Access control policies
- Audit requirements
- Logging and monitoring standards
Perform application impact assessments.
Identify risks associated with:
- Migration failures
- Data corruption
- Network latency
- Rollback complexity
- Single points of failure

Design & Architecture Validation

Network & Connectivity Review

Review network architecture and connectivity requirements.
Validate:
- IP addressing
- VLAN segmentation
- Network routing
- Firewall configurations
- Traffic flow requirements
Assess connectivity between applications and integrated systems.

Application Configuration Validation

Review and update:
- Application configuration files
- Property files
- Connection strings
- API endpoints
- MQ channels and queues
Identify and remediate hardcoded application configurations.
Assess readiness for:
- IP changes
- Hostname changes
- DNS updates

Non-Functional Readiness

Validate application performance requirements.
Assess:
- Availability
- Scalability
- Latency sensitivity
- Bandwidth requirements
Verify High Availability (HA) and clustering configurations.
Ensure readiness in the target infrastructure environment.

Pre-Migration Preparation

Environment Standardization

Remove obsolete application configurations.
Decommission unused services and components.
Ensure environment consistency and readiness.

Backup & Recovery

Verify completion of full system and database backups.
Validate backup restoration procedures.
Confirm rollback and data retention strategies.

Security & Certificate Management

Validate SSL/TLS certificates.
Coordinate certificate renewal and re-issuance activities.
Review secrets management processes, keystores, and vault integrations.

Migration & Cutover Support

Change & Release Management

Raise and manage change requests.
Support Change Advisory Committee (CAC) processes.
Prepare:
- Impact assessments
- Rollback plans
- Deployment procedures
Coordinate migration activities with business and technical teams.

Application Migration Execution

Support application shutdown and startup activities.
Perform configuration validation after migration.
Coordinate with:
- Infrastructure Teams
- Database Teams
- Network Teams
- Storage Teams
- Security Teams

Post-Migration Validation & Stabilization

Functional Validation

Execute application validation checklists.
Verify:
- User authentication
- Transactions
- Batch processing
- Message queues
- External integrations
Validate successful completion of business-critical processes.

Disaster Recovery Validation

Validate Disaster Recovery (DR) environments.
Verify:
- Replication status
- Connectivity
- Recovery readiness
Participate in DR drills and simulation exercises.

Performance Monitoring

Monitor:
- Application performance
- Error rates
- System throughput
- Network latency
Support Hypercare activities and transition to BAU support

Documentation & Knowledge Management

Maintain and update:
- Application architecture diagrams
- Network topology diagrams
- Operational documents
- Runbooks
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for support teams.
Update support documentation and FAQs.

Stakeholder & Communication Management

Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for:
- Application Teams
- Infrastructure Teams
- Business Users
- Project Teams
Provide regular updates on:
- Migration progress
- Risks and issues
- Cutover status
- Go-Live readiness
Support audit, compliance, and evidence collection activities.

Post-Implementation Review (PIR)

Participate in Post-Implementation Review sessions.
Document lessons learned and improvement opportunities.
Support closure of change records.
Recommend improvements in:
- Automation
- Configuration management
- Operational support processes
