About the Role

Our Malaysia Tech Center is advancing cross-border payments, SME digitalisation, and next-generation financial infrastructure, supporting global businesses and products such as WorldFirst, Alipay+, Antom, and Bettr. As an Applied AI Engineer, you will own end-to-end product engineering delivery in an AI-native environment. AI is deeply embedded in how we clarify requirements, design solutions, build software, alongside how we test, deploy, and continuously improve our products—it is not merely an occasional coding aid. You will collaborate with AI agents throughout the delivery lifecycle while applying sound engineering judgment, retaining full accountability for the correctness, security, reliability, and business outcomes of everything delivered.

Your Mission

1. Contribute to well-defined product features or service components, driving tasks from requirements through to production operation with team support.
2. Translate product and business needs into practical designs to build secure, reliable, and maintainable backend services, APIs, and integrations.
3. Support delivery quality and production stability through effective validation, release readiness, along with lasting defect fixes.
4. Apply AI-native engineering practices by structuring work for AI agents, providing clear context and constraints, and critically validating the outputs.
5. Learn to navigate domain-specific engineering challenges, assist with complex cross-component bottlenecks, and communicate delivery risks and technical trade-offs clearly.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2. Relevant software engineering experience, with evidence of contributing to or delivering production features
3. Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, paired with foundational experience in backend development, APIs, and databases.
4. Strong ownership and problem-solving skills, with the growth mindset to diagnose system outages and degradations, while collaborating effectively with product teams and business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with automated testing, release validation, as well as production quality practices.
2. Experience delivering production software through AI-native workflows, with disciplined review of AI-generated outputs.
3. Exposure to resolving complex or cross-component engineering problems, particularly in payments, financial services, or other transaction-intensive domains.
