Perform system navigation, command usage, data processing, and batch operations within the AS/400 Life Asia / Policy Asia environment
Develop and maintain RPG, COBOL, and CL programs to support life insurance business processes new business onboarding, policy servicing, lapses, reinstatements, and maturity processing
Support core life insurance functions including policy issuance, policy servicing, claims, and reinsurance processing within the AS/400 Life Asia platform
Conduct production support, incident management, and root cause analysis for the Life Asia system
Perform batch job management monitor, schedule, restart, and recover failed batch processes
Write and optimise DB2 for i SQL queries for data extraction, reconciliation, and regulatory reporting
Work with business analysts to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs
Collaborate with actuarial, finance, and compliance teams to implement regulatory changes (e.g., OJK, BNM, MAS requirements)
Generate, interpret, and manage reports using AS/400 tools for management and regulatory purposes
Support integration between Life Asia and external systems (bancassurance, agent portals, reinsurance systems)
Participate in UAT, SIT, and regression testing cycles for system enhancements
Requirements
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in COBOL, RPG, and CL programming with hands-on experience on the Life Asia insurance platform
In-depth knowledge of AS/400 / IBM i platform, including its architecture, operations, and system management
Experience with file handling, batch processing, and report generation on the AS/400 environment
Strong DB2 for i skills logical/physical file design, SQL, and data manipulation
Knowledge of spool file management, output queues, and AS/400 operational commands
Domain Knowledge:
Mandatory experience in the insurance domain, especially life insurance, with understanding of life insurance business processes and data models
Knowledge of life insurance products: term life, whole life, endowment, investment-linked, group insurance
Familiarity with actuarial concepts: sum assured, cash value, premium modes, and policy reserves
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of experience as a developer on the Life Asia (AS/400) platform within an insurance industry setting
Senior roles typically require 810 years of AS/400 application development, preferably in the life insurance domain
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Methodologies:
Familiarity with SDLC, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies
