AS400 Developer (COBOL)

Project Context:

• Core banking payment platform supporting 10+ APAC countries
• Technology stack: AS400, COBOL, DB2, Aldon
• Nature of work: End-to-end development lifecycle (analysis to warranty support), not maintenance

Scope Expansion:

• Open to IBM Mainframe COBOL (S/390 / Z/390) profiles
• Rationale: Comparable skillsets with minimal transition required and proven delivery in similar environments

Job Description:

• Design, develop and configure AS400 COBOL software modules, interfaces and components
• Ability to work in a team environment delivering quality software that meets requirements working to a timeline
• Explore new business solutions to continually enhance functionality that fulfills user needs
• Adopt standards and methodologies of application design and functionality
• Motivated to be continually enhancing your skills to be aware of the latest software development trends/skills
• Be a self-starter and recognize when issues need to be raised

Qualifications And Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology
• 5 - 12 years of AS400 COBOL development experience
• Experience in banking domain, especially in payments domain
• Working knowledge of AS400, COBOL, SQL and DB2 database
• Awareness of JIRA and ALDON Involved in complete software delivery lifecycle, and maintaining AS400 applications
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle communication at different levels and diverse population
• Experience in working closely with clients providing required services

Additional Flexibility:

• Candidates with COBOL background who have transitioned into other roles (e.g., Analyst, PM) may be considered (case-by-case)
• Profiles with career gaps may be considered if fundamentals are strong

Not Acceptable:

• RPG-only or Smart400 profiles (not technically aligned)

Work Location

• Kuala Lumpur (Client Site or Occasionally at TRX office)
