Job Description

YOUR DAY TO DAY

People

  • Support the Director of Engineering in managing day-to-day staffing requirements, assigning work, and monitoring team performance
  • Assist in training all engineering staff in compliance with governmental and safety regulations, ensuring the team has the tools and equipment needed
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments, staying informed of maintenance needs across the hotel

Financial

  • Support the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans
  • Monitor expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance, and capital planning

Guest Experience

  • Understand and respond to guest needs to ensure a high level of satisfaction with the hotel's facilities
  • Support the preventive maintenance programme to keep all guest-facing systems in service, including lighting, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning, water treatment, and pools

Responsible Business

  • Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely, efficient manner while minimising waste and supporting the hotel's sustainability initiatives
  • Support hotel security efforts to minimise risk of theft, crime, and other hazards
  • Assist in leading hotel renovations and other projects, supporting contract negotiation and timely completion within budget
  • Perform other duties as assigned; may serve as manager on duty

Accountabilities

  • Supports the Director of Engineering in the safe, efficient operation of all hotel engineering systems
  • Timely completion of preventive maintenance schedules across guest and back-of-house areas
  • Compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards across the engineering department
  • May supervise engineering team members and contractors in the Director of Engineering's absence

What We Need From You

  • To thrive in this role and bring poise and precision to the guest journey, you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, or advanced vocational training in a related discipline
  • Minimum 2–3 years experience in general building maintenance, construction, or hotel engineering
  • Relevant professional certification or license, where required by law
  • Hotel or hospitality engineering experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of building systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing
  • Fluent English required; other languages an advantage
