Role Description The Assistant Director of Sales – Travel Trade (Local Hire Only) is a full-time, on-site role based at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara in WP. Kuala Lumpur. This role focuses on managing and growing travel trade accounts, including travel agents, tour operators, Event Companies and other distribution partners, to drive room revenue and market share. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and executing sales strategies, conducting sales calls and presentations, preparing proposals and contracts, and monitoring performance against targets. The individual will collaborate closely with the Director of Sales, Reservations, Revenue Management, and Marketing teams to design packages, promotions, and campaigns tailored to key markets. The role also involves maintaining strong partner relationships, attending trade events, analyzing market trends, and providing regular reporting and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Sales and Sales Operations within the hospitality or travel trade sector, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Strong Customer Service skills and the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with travel agents, tour operators, and key partners.
  • Demonstrated Team Management capabilities, including coaching, motivating, and collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to achieve shared goals.
  • Business Development skills, including identifying new market opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements, and expanding the travel trade portfolio.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and competitive intelligence to inform strategy.
  • Comfort with using CRM and hotel sales systems, as well as standard office software (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to work on-site in WP. Kuala Lumpur and to travel locally or regionally for client visits and trade events as required.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
