Job Description

The Assistant EHS Manager is a dual-function role responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs across the facility while providing basic health services through the on-site clinic. This position requires a qualified nursing professional with strong EHS knowledge who can balance regulatory compliance, workplace safety initiatives, and direct patient care to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Management

Safety Program Support

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local regulations and international standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or equivalent)
  • Support workplace hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of control measures
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues
  • Assist in investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, incident logs, and regulatory documentation

Training & Awareness

  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training programs including safety orientation for new employees, emergency response procedures, and specialized safety training (where applicable)
  • Support Regional EHS Manager (APAC) to develop and distribute safety communications, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns
  • Promote a strong safety culture through employee engagement initiatives

Emergency Preparedness

  • Support development and maintenance of emergency response plans, including fire safety, evacuation procedures, and business continuity planning
  • Organize and conduct emergency drills and exercises; evaluate effectiveness and implement improvements
  • Serve as a member of the emergency response team

Compliance & Reporting

  • Monitor compliance with national and local EHS regulations and standards
  • Assist in preparing regulatory reports and documentation for government agencies
  • Support internal and external EHS audits and inspections

Environmental Management

  • Assist in monitoring environmental aspects including waste management, energy consumption, and emissions
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental improvement projects

Employee Welfare

Basic Healthcare Delivery

  • Provide first aid, emergency response, and basic medical care to employees during working hours
  • Assess, triage, and treat workplace injuries and illnesses; determine when external medical referral is necessary

Health Promotion & Wellness

  • Coordinate and conduct health screening programs, vaccinations, and wellness initiatives (where applicable, subject to client approval)
  • Provide health education and counselling on occupational health topics, disease prevention, and lifestyle management

Occupational Health Management

  • Coordinate with external healthcare providers for specialized medical services and referrals
  • Maintain clinic inventory including medical supplies and equipment.

Health Surveillance

  • Support occupational health surveillance programs for employees exposed to workplace hazards
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or valid and current Registered Nurse license (required)
  • Certification or qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (preferred) or willingness to obtain within 12 months
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (required)

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of EHS and basic healthcare experience, preferably in occupational health, emergency care, or office settings
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in EHS roles or workplace safety programs (preferred)
  • Experience in conducting training, audits, and incident investigations (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Solid understanding of occupational health principles and workplace health hazards
  • Proficient in clinical assessment, emergency response, and basic medical procedures
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to deliver training and present information clearly
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS/medical record management systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
