Job Description

We are seeking an Assistant Manager of Business Development with experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in a science-related field, with registered pharmacists highly preferred.

1.     Business Development & Strategic Growth

·       Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities across pharmaceuticals, medical devices, nutraceuticals, herbal products, food supplements, protein formulations, and other healthcare-related sectors.

·       Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.

·       Explore new markets, therapeutic areas, distribution channels, and strategic partnerships locally and internationally.

2.     Partnership & Commercial Negotiation

·       Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and conclude commercial agreements with prospective manufacturers, suppliers, principals, distributors, and customers.

·       Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders to drive sustainable business growth.

·       Lead contract negotiations, commercial terms, pricing, exclusivity, and distribution agreements.

3.     Technology Transfer & Manufacturing Collaboration

·       Initiate, coordinate, and manage technology transfer, contract manufacturing, licensing, and project-based collaborations with manufacturing partners.

·       Work closely with KCK Pharmaceuticals Industries Sdn. Bhd. to facilitate contract manufacturing, local production, product localization, and strategic manufacturing collaborations.

·       Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation from feasibility through commercialization.

4.     Product Portfolio Development

·       Identify new products for registration, licensing, local manufacturing, or distribution.

·       Evaluate product viability based on market demand, regulatory requirements, pricing, profitability, and competitive landscape.

·       Develop and strengthen the company's product pipeline.

5.     Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis

·       Conduct comprehensive market research and competitor analysis.

·       Monitor industry trends, pricing strategies, regulatory changes, and market dynamics.

·       Provide strategic recommendations to management regarding product positioning, pricing, and business opportunities.

6.     Tender & Government Business

·       Identify opportunities in government tenders, hospital procurement, institutional business, and Local Purchase Orders (LPO).

·       Support tender preparation by coordinating pricing, forecasting, product sourcing, and commercial documentation.

·       Develop strategies to improve success rates in government and institutional procurement.

7.     Strategic Planning & Management Reporting

·       Prepare business proposals, feasibility studies, financial analyses, and investment justifications.

·       Develop and present business plans, project updates, and market reports to senior management and the Board.

·       Monitor project milestones, budgets, timelines, and commercial performance.

8.     Cross-Functional Collaboration

·       Work closely with Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Sales & Marketing, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful execution of business initiatives.

·       Coordinate product launches and commercialization activities.

9.     Financial & Commercial Management

·       Prepare business cases, pricing models, profitability analyses, and revenue forecasts.

·       Monitor business performance against budget, sales targets, and profitability objectives.

·       Ensure commercial activities achieve expected return on investment (ROI).

10.  Regulatory & Compliance Support

·       Support product registration, licensing, dossier acquisition, and regulatory due diligence during business development activities.

·       Ensure all commercial agreements comply with applicable regulatory and corporate governance requirements.

11.  Relationship Management

·       Represent the company during meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and international business visits.

·       Build strategic relationships with multinational pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers, healthcare institutions, government agencies, and business partners.

12.  Leadership & Team Development

·       Lead, mentor, and develop the Business Development team.

·       Establish departmental KPIs and monitor performance.

·       Foster a high-performance culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceuticals, Chemistry, Biology, MBBS or a related science field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Business Development within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong price negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel if needed.
  • Experience working with multinational pharmaceutical companies is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Required to travel and work independently as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
