Job Brief

The Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting, is responsible for supporting the Group Financial Reporting team in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all financial reports. The role covers the preparation of financial statements under local accounting standards, coordination of regulatory and statutory submissions, assistance during audits, reconciliations, and the maintenance of robust internal controls and reporting processes. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external and internal auditors, and relevant regulatory bodies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare management accounts with high-level variance analysis and commentary.
  • Produce various financial reports to support internal stakeholders and decision-making.
  • Handle statutory reporting and regulatory submissions to BNM, ISM, PIAM, LFSA, and other relevant authorities.
  • Support external audits through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and responses to auditor queries.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., actuarial, pricing, and product teams) by providing relevant financial data and insights.
  • Assist in enhancing financial reporting processes, internal controls, and system improvements (e.g., SAP B1).
  • Ensure timely updating and compliance of internal finance policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc assignments as required.

Job Requirements

  • At least 57 years of relevant working experience, preferably in financial reporting, accounting, or auditing.
  • Prior experience at the Managerial or Assistant Manager level in Accounting, Auditing, or related functions is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, regulatory reporting requirements, and financial reporting processes, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Proficient in English (both written and spoken) with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Holds at least an Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or Professional Qualification in Finance, Accountancy, Banking, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with SAP B1 or other financial systems will be an added advantage.
