Job Description

SALARY RANGE RM 6,000 - RM 10,000

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Manager, Global Engagement is responsible for supporting the achievement of the University's global engagement, international growth and strategic collaboration objectives.

Working closely with the Director, Future Students, the position will lead the coordination, development, implementation and monitoring of global engagement initiatives and strategic opportunities. This includes engagement with domestic and overseas institutions, professional bodies and other relevant stakeholders.

The position will support opportunities that contribute to domestic and international student recruitment, pathway and articulation arrangements, student mobility, institutional collaboration, market development, global visibility and other initiatives aligned with the University's strategic priorities. The role will serve as a central point of coordination between external stakeholders and relevant internal teams, including Faculties, Schools, Student Recruitment, Prospect Experience, Admissions and International Office, Student Services, Finance, Legal. It will ensure that engagement opportunities are appropriately assessed, documented, progressed, implemented and monitored.

The position will assist the Director, Future Students to establish effective processes, reporting mechanisms and governance arrangements for global engagement activities. This includes maintaining an active opportunity pipeline, preparing proposals and briefing papers, coordinating collaboration agreements, monitoring progress and supporting the translation of external engagement into measurable institutional outcomes.

Qualifications And Criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized institution with a minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience including one (1) year at supervisory level in leading a team of staff. Master's degree holders in relevant discipline can be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing relationships with external stakeholders, including institutions, government agencies, industry partners, education representatives or other relevant organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and progress strategic opportunities from initial engagement through to implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing proposals, briefing papers, reports, presentations, agreements or other professional documentation for senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly, prepare high-quality documentation and present ideas effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder management, negotiation, relationship development and cross-functional project coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a dynamic and outcomes-focused environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility, communicate and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple internal teams and external organisations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate opportunities, identify risks and make practical recommendations.
  • Ability to act with discretion on matters of a confidential nature and manage stakeholders in a mature and professional manner.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, and to work outside normal hours or on weekends when required for engagement activities, events or project delivery.
  • Knowledge of the Malaysian and global higher education sector, including international student recruitment, transnational education, institutional collaboration and key developments affecting private tertiary education.
  • Working proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, Hindi, Arabic or another language relevant to the University's priority markets.
