Job Description
Key Objective
The position is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager, UW and Product in managing the overall underwriting and product development function within the IPL portfolio, i.e. Auto, Residential & Specialty Personal Lines (SPL – Device Protection, Cyber Insurance etc.), and aim to meet IPL yearly financial target, both topline and bottomline. This also includes identify business opportunities, ensure proper governance process and good underwriting discipline that support the accelerated growth in the IPL portfolio.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Financial Targets – To contribute as part of the IPL team structure in achieving the yearly financial plan, both topline & bottomline.
- Operation Efficiency – To improve the underwriting journey during risk assessment & acceptance, reduce administrative work, and shorten the time taken for referral/approval case.
- Portfolio Management – Assess and manage the portfolio performance, and underwriting referrals as well as continuous review and enhancements of underwriting processes and procedures.
- Relationship Management – Work closely with distribution channels with constructive feedback & discussion and generating new ideas to keep growing the portfolio.
- Service standard – Ensure that service standard level of underwriting work is within the agreed turnaround time.
- Product Development – Provide technical support when developing new product features, new coverage wording, obtain approval etc.
- System Enhancement – To support the system change required or system maintenance required for Auto, Residential or SPL products.
- Reporting – Adherence to reporting, internal and external, timely and accurate submission of reports and statistics.
- Compliance – Ensure full compliance with regulatory, PIAM, local, regional and global guidelines including peer review.
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience within the General Insurance industry, preferably motor focused and with underwriting background.
- Additional working experience in portfolio management/insurance product pricing is also recommended
- Experience in the coordination of information from and the communication of results to relevant stakeholders.
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in the insurance relevant field, preferably Actuarial, Statistic, Business Admin, Financial or Management related title.
- Additional professional insurance qualifications paper is also recommended
