About the role

We are seeking a candidate with strong hands-on experience in cross-border remittances, SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 (MX) messages, and end-to-end payment investigations. This role supports critical payment flows involving correspondent banks, Nostro accounts, and payment schemes, with a strong focus on CBPR+ compliance, SLA adherence, and operational risk mitigation.

What you'll be doing

Payment Investigations & Exceptions

1-Perform end-to-end investigations for cross-border payment issues, including:

  • Delayed payments
  • Returned / rejected transactions
  • Recalls, amendments, and charge queries

2-Investigate payment flows involving:

  • MT103 / pacs.008 (Customer Credit Transfers)
  • MT202 / pacs.009 (Financial Institution Transfers)

SWIFT & ISO 20022 (CBPR+)

1-Analyze SWIFT MT and MX (ISO 20022) messages to identify:

  • Routing issues
  • Missing or incorrect mandatory fields
  • Formatting or data quality issues under CBPR+ requirements

2-Support investigation cases related to MT-to-MX coexistence, message translation, and truncation risks.

Correspondent Banking & Nostro

  • Liaise with correspondent banks to resolve payment discrepancies
  • Investigate Nostro account entries, value date issues, and unmatched credits/debits
  • Support reconciliation-related investigations linked to payment exceptions.

Inward & Outward Remittances

1-Handle both inward and outward remittance investigations, ensuring:

  • Accurate beneficiary credit
  • Correct charge deductions (OUR / SHA / BEN)
  • Compliance with cut-off times and settlement timelines

2-Support investigations related to local clearing systems (e.g., MEPS+, RTGS, or equivalent)

Risk, Compliance & Reporting

1-Ensure investigation handling aligns with:

  • Internal SOPs
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Payment market practice guidelines

2-Maintain clear audit trails, investigation logs, and root-cause documentation

3-Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements or controls

What we're looking for

1-Proven experience in payment investigations, preferably within:

  • Cross-border remittance operations
  • Correspondent banking or centralized payment operations

2-Strong hands-on knowledge of:

  • MT103 / pacs.008
  • MT202 / pacs.009

3-Solid understanding of:

  • ISO 20022 standards and CBPR+ requirements
  • End-to-end cross-border payment lifecycle
  • Inward and outward remittance operations

4-Experience working with Nostro accounts and correspondent banks

5-Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes quickly

6-Exposure to:

  • CBPR+ migration or ISO 20022 implementation
  • MEPS+ / RTGS payment investigations
  • SWIFT Alliance, payment hubs, or core banking systems
  • Understanding of:
  • Payment charges handling (OUR / SHA / BEN)
  • Value dating, FX implications, and settlement risk
