Role Description Definition of Mechanical for the Job includes Mechanical related provisions for temporary and permanent functionality of the project not limited to ACMV/Environmental Control System, Sanitary & Cold Water Plumbing, Lifts & Escalators, Fire Protection and Detection System and etc.
Undertake and deliver high quality detailed engineering design review for Mechanical building services and external infrastructure but not limited to LRT/MRT stations, pumping stations, data centres and any other infrastructures. Understanding of building mechanical services, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications and other documents required to complete the projects. Review and management of project from inception to post construction.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
1.Managing implementation of Mechanical engineering for both design and construction.
2.Plan and monitor Mechanical engineering design review works. Mechanical engineering design review works shall include the following but not limited to:
- Liaise and coordinate with Mechanical / Electrical design consultants.
- Check and ensure all Mechanical deliverables meet the required quality standards, cost effective and comply with employer's requirements and authorities requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor authorities submissions, inspections and CCC related to Mechanical engineering.
- Attend site meetings or site inspection involving major Mechanical design issues.
- Attend factory inspection, factory acceptance tests, site testing & commissioning and site acceptance tests for Mechanical equipment.
- Review and coordinate technical queries involving major Mechanical design issues.
- Review and coordinate trainings for Mechanical services.
- Review and coordinate Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manual preparation and submission for Mechanical services.
- Attend design progress meetings.
3.Plan and monitor construction site supervision works in Mechanical engineering. Construction site supervision works shall include the following but not limited to:
- Liaise and coordinate with Mechanical engineering supervising consultants in shop drawings, materials submission & As-Built drawings review and approval, technical queries review, site work inspections, etc.
- Liaise and coordinate with contractors Mechanical engineering team in Mechanical deliverables, construction work schedules, site works, etc.
- Review and monitor construction schedules related to Mechanical engineering, ensuring efficient operation and timely delivery.
- Check and ensure Mechanical engineering shop drawings and materials submission meet the specifications and design drawings, and comply with employer's requirements and authorities requirements.
- Check and ensure all Mechanical site works meet the approved shop drawings, and comply with employer's requirements and authorities requirements.
- Coordinate and monitor technical queries.
- .Check, review and coordinate As-Built drawings and O&M manuals related to Mechanical engineering.
- Liaise, monitor and coordinate with authorities representatives in site works inspections and acceptance.
- Attend design meetings involving major Mechanical site issues.
- Attend site progress meetings.
4.Responsible and answerable to all technical matters related to Mechanical engineering.
5.Writing reports, giving presentations and meeting with clients and all other project stake holders.
6.Providing quality assurance for ongoing projects.
7.Participate in all activities related to design evaluations, recommending and following up with solutions and supporting implementations.
8.Participate in engineering projects in developing Mechanical designs i.e. drawings, calculations, data sheets, project related specifications and other design documentation as required and in accordance to project's or Employer's requirements.
9.Coordinate and follow up for design drawings, documents and vendors submitted by contractors or consultants for the project.
10.Report and assist in resolving comments by relevant stakeholder's points related to design.
11.Attend Site visits and site quality audits, as and when required.
12.To ensure QA/QC is in compliance with specs and requirements of the projects to minimize end user's comments and number of non-compliance found during commissioning stage and hence ensure customer satisfaction and quality of executed work.
13.Participate as a key technical team member project leader in a variety of key projects in the business unit
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Competencies Required
- Minimum 8 years in mechanical design engineering, with minimum 5 years in rail project (LRT, MRT)
- Proven track record managing design teams for large-scale rail projects.
Skills & Abilities
- Related project experience using CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, Revit)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical system design such as: Environmental Control System (ACMV), Fire Protection and Detection System, Cold Water and Sanitary Plumbing System, Vertical Transportation System and etc.
