Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Understand the new data needs of different teams in Group Risk and propose solution enhancements that will benefit majority of the data users.
  • Lead and/or participate in key strategic initiatives and focus projects and ensure the implementation is delivered with quality within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Continuously review the data and operational processes of the data platforms managed by RDSS and propose the necessary enhancements to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Provide advisory to other teams within Group Risk on data management, solutions or risk data related matters, when required.
  • Work together with relevant Risk teams to implement Generative-AI initiatives.

Business Performance and Management

  • Promptly highlight data quality and data governance related issues to the Data Owners / System Owners and track progress for resolution.
  • Plan and prioritize for work deliverables to be delivered based on a realistic timeline.
  • Provide support and guidance to Data Management teams in regional entities to align infrastructure solution and capabilities, where applicable.
  • Supports Team Lead in relevant data-related initiatives (e.g. new data marts or data solutions, data quality initiatives, new systems integration, Gen-AI use cases, streamlining and automation of processes on ERI's data platforms, etc)
  • Oversees and ensures timely project delivery as the Business Project Manager or Business Analyst roles.
  • Work closely with other Risk and BU teams to perform impact assessment of external changes (e.g. upstream system changes, new products processes, Basel Models changes, regulatory requirement changes, etc) to the data platforms supported RDSS (e.g. RDM, IMDP).
  • Work together with the relevant teams to ensure data and functional requirements are fully captured for ease solutioning and data mapping, where relevant, into the data platforms managed by RDSS

People Management

  • Demonstrate the culture of an effective and cohesive team player that operates seamlessly between departments, division and across borders.
  • Initiate ideas for continuous improvement of team skillsets and expertise in data management and operational efficiency for data platforms managed by RDSS.
  • Provide suggestions on data model extension/enhancement to cater for new data requirements across all platforms managed by RDSS.
  • Manage external vendors and GT team during project implementation to ensure effective support, efficient system enhancement and optimal system performance.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensures the department's operations are in compliance with Group, local and regional regulations
  • Ensures the data required for regulatory reports submission are ready for usage as per agreed SLA

Job Requirements

  • Qualification: Degree in IT / Information Management / Computer Science from a reputable university
  • Relevant working experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in data warehouse, data lake and/or data mart implementation
  • Minimum of 7 years working in the Banking industry
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in GenAI implementation
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cloud implementation
  • Minimum 3 years of prior leadership / team lead role in an established banking/financial institution
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project management (added advantage if Risk related projects).

Technical/Functional skills

1) Mandatory

  • Sound knowledge in Data Management and Data Governance processes / controls;
  • Knowledge in data integration and solutioning.
  • Experienced in implementing ETL design best practises
  • Ability to write SQL queries for data profiling and issues investigation
  • Ability to design logical data models
  • Sound knowledge in Banking product features
  • Knowledge in core banking application, loan origination systems
  • Knowledge or experience in Generative-AI implementation (such as Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, Microsoft Azure AI, Co-Pilot 365)
  • Knowledge or experience in implementing or using Cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)

2) Added Advantage

  • Knowledge in SAS application (SAS-EG / SAS-Base)
  • Knowledge in Basel, SCEL, and other related BNM regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge in loan credit administration and operational process flow (e.g. loan application, approval, disbursement, monitoring, etc)
  • Experience in projects using Agile methodology
  • Knowledge or experience in Visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView.

Personal skills (Soft Competencies)

  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills (English)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good stakeholder management skills and ability to communicate effectively with both IT and business divisions (local and regional)
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills, required for discussions with stakeholders; and knowledge transfer sessions (internal and/or external to the department)
  • Strong team work culture
