Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE

Assist in the strategic advancement of BNM's work on emerging technologies (e.g. DLT infrastructure and digital asset landscape) through applied research, policy analysis, and project execution. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive impactful initiatives at the national level, while continuously building expertise in emerging technologies and financial market trends.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist in strategic initiatives to advance Malaysia's digital asset ecosystem, including tokenized assets, digital currencies, and next-gen financial market infrastructures
  • Support research efforts on emerging trends, developments and risks, as well as undertake surveillance and benchmarking on legal/regulatory framework and policy development efforts in other countries, to inform policy decisions and maintain Malaysia's competitiveness
  • Formulate and recommend policies and regulatory frameworks to ensure safe, efficient, and future ready digital asset adoption. Where relevant, this would be done in engagement and consultation with the relevant stakeholders (e.g. SC, industry and international stakeholders).
  • Conduct monitoring and assessment of systemic, operational, and consumer risks associated with digital assets and payment systems, ensuring integrity, resilience, and public trust
  • Drive effective communication and maintain close collaboration with relevant stakeholders. (e.g. regulatory bodies, regional central banks, standard setting bodies) to support policy alignment, cross border collaboration, and ecosystem development
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, industry players, and global institutions to support policy alignment, cross-border collaboration, and ecosystem development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic Qualifications: Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or professional qualifications in accounting, economics, banking, risk management, law, actuarial science, computer science or finance.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in financial sector, economics or finance with good understanding of central bank functions.
