ROLE PURPOSE
Undertake strategic surveillance, forecasting, and research on global issues to inform Bank's macroeconomic assessments and policy formulation, with a focus on enhancing forecast accuracy and identifying emerging risks and opportunities to support the Bank's mandates and strategic objectives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To conduct in-depth surveillance of global economic and financial developments and assist in continuously improve the monitoring process to ensure the delivery of rigorous, timely and relevant economic assessments and forecasts.
- To conduct forecasting of economic growth of Malaysia's key trading partners (e.g. US, China and euro area) that is used for undertaking impact assessment on the economy and formulating macroeconomic policies.
- Undertake scenario analysis and simulation under highly uncertain environment to assess potential impact of shocks on global and domestic (Malaysia) growth.
- To conduct thematic research on relevant global issues to facilitate understanding of their impact to Malaysian economy.
- To draft the Bank's communication to various external stakeholders, including Bank's publication, briefing to the Government and responses to issues raised by multilateral organisations, rating agencies, investors, media and the general public.
- To conduct administrative tasks, where necessary, to ensure business continuity and smooth running of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
- First Degree in Economics (preferred), Econometrics, Mathematics, Accounting and Finance or related field. Masters in Economics and Econometrics is an advantage
- Experience: 2 3 years working experience in Economics and Financial Sector would be an advantage
