About the Job

You will be part of the Investment Accounting team, supporting the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of investment transactions and positions. This role ensures timely and compliant financial reporting in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and internal policies, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external service providers.

  • Prepare monthly accounting transactions and accounts closing for Investment Linked (IL) funds, Life funds and Shareholders Fund based on MFRS 4 and 9, including quarterly computation of Provision for Expected Credit Loss (ECL) and Effective Interest Rate (EIR), reconciliation and variance analysis.
  • Prepare input data for IL funds related journals and investment input data for investment income allocation purposes based on MFRS 17.
  • Review daily IL Net Asset Value (NAV) from custodian bank, ensuring accurate and timely update of IL unit prices in the Company's insurance systems and website.
  • Perform custody reconciliations of trades, prices, and positions against Bloomberg and other data sources, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, with all discrepancies identified, investigated, and resolved promptly.
  • Prepare monthly investment performance reports for submission to Investment Management, and daily Substantial Shareholding Report to Group reporting purposes.
  • Involve in the review / update of standard operating procedures and annual outsourcing review for custodian and fund accounting services.
  • Involve in the review and implementation of process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of reporting processes.

We are looking for people who

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration from a recognised local or oversea university, or possess full professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, MICPA, ICAEW).
  • At least 1 to 2 years of working experience in a financial institution, preferably life insurance or established audit firms. Fresh graduate can be considered but with good results in accountancy.
  • Good understanding of accounting fundamentals within financial institutions, particularly in the application of Financial Reporting Standards to financial statements.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications with advanced skills in MS Excel. Experience with VBA and/or Power Query is an added advantage.
  • Basic understanding of investment principles and familiarity with asset valuation methods and analysis.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to apply analytical thinking, work well with others, and manage time effectively.
  • Proactive and able to work independently when required
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision while remaining aligned with team goals.
  • Demonstrates integrity, takes ownership of tasks, and maintains a positive attitude toward teamwork.
  • Willing to take the initiative to enhance reporting processes and adapt to change
