JOB SUMMARY
The Associates II is responsible for drafting, reviewing and vetting contracts, agreements and other legal documents involving the Company as well as providing legal advice and opinion on contractual matters to various departments within the Company.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Head of Unit (HOU) in managing and implementing the functions of the unit under the guidance of the Head of Legal Section (HOS).
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts, agreements, memorandum of understanding/ collaboration, deeds and other legal documents.
- Provide legal advice and support on contractual legal matters.
- Review tender and procurement documents to ensure compliance with legal and contractual requirements, whenever required.
- Advise on contract administration matters, including interpretation, variation, extension of time, claims, disputes, termination and other contractual issues.
- Conduct legal research and monitor legislative and judicial developments relevant to contractual matters.
- Review, update and advise on policies, procedures, standard templates and governance documents relating to contracts.
- Liaise and coordinate with external solicitors, consultants, vendors, contractors and relevant authorities on legal and contractual matters, whenever required.
- Participate in meetings, negotiations and discussions involving contractual and legal issues.
- Prepare legal reports, management papers, correspondence and other legal documentation as required.
- Support the development and implementation of legal awareness initiatives and provide guidance on contractual matters to internal stakeholders.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the HOU, HOS or Management from time to time, commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) or equivalent
- Admission as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya is an advantage
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in drafting/vetting of contracts/agreements and providing legal opinion on matters relating to contract.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge in procurement process and contract management is an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge in Malaysian laws
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint

- Strong drafting and writing skills.
- Strong ability in understanding facts and information provided by the requestor in order to draft contract/agreement and/or to give legal opinion.
