Job Description
Work Arrangement : Hybrid, once a week at the office in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam.
About Orius
Orius is a boutique digital experience & eCommerce agency helping leading brands bring their ideas to life through world-class design, strategy, and technology. We work across Shopify and Shopify Plus builds, marketing websites, mobile apps, retainers, branding, and creative production — a genuinely varied portfolio, not a single project type.
We're upfront about compensation: this role is budgeted at RM3,000–RM4,000 per month, reflecting the junior, growth-track nature of the position. If you're looking for a senior-level salary from day one, this isn't the right fit. If you're looking for the fastest, most hands-on way to become a skilled agency Project Manager — with real mentorship and a clear runway — this is built for exactly that.
The Role
We're looking for an Associate Project Manager to support delivery across our project portfolio and grow into a full Project Manager role.
This is not a standalone coordinator position with no path forward. You'll work directly alongside our senior Project Manager, learning how to run client relationships, manage timelines and budgets, and translate business requirements into clear briefs for design and engineering — with the explicit goal of taking on your own accounts independently within your first 12–18 months.
What You'll Do
You'll support delivery across the same project types our senior PMs manage — eCommerce Shopify builds, marketing websites, mobile app projects, retainers, branding, and creative production — starting with the coordination layer and growing into full ownership.
Project Support & Coordination
- Support the Project Manager in maintaining project timelines, charters, and documentation from discovery through go-live
- Keep ClickUp boards current — task statuses, deadlines, and project health updated daily
- Take notes in client and internal meetings, and turn them into clear action items and follow-ups
- Help prepare status updates, burn reports, and utilisation tracking for client-facing reporting
- Coordinate small deliverables directly with designers, developers, and strategists under PM guidance
- Support QA and UAT processes — checking work against requirements before client review
Client Exposure & Growth
- Join client WIP calls and check-ins alongside the PM, gradually taking on more speaking and reporting responsibility as you grow
- Learn to translate client requirements into clear specs and tickets for the delivery team
- Begin owning smaller, lower-complexity projects independently as your first 6–12 months progress — with PM support always available
- Shadow scope and change-request conversations to learn how to protect timelines and budgets professionally
- Build direct client relationships on the accounts you take ownership of
Operational Learning
- Learn Orius's full project management toolset — ClickUp (required from day one), Claude, Google Workspace, Figma, and Slides
- Get hands-on exposure to Shopify Admin, Shopify POS configuration, and basic store/site setup (full training provided)
- Build a working understanding of software development lifecycles and creative/design workflows across every project type Orius runs
Your Growth Path
This role is explicitly a development track, not a fixed position. Here's what progression typically looks like:
- Months 1–6 — Learn the tools, shadow client calls, own task-level coordination on 2–3 accounts under close PM guidance
- Months 6–12 — Take ownership of your first small, low-complexity project end-to-end, with the PM as a safety net
- Months 12–18 — Carry a small portfolio of accounts independently, with regular check-ins; begin transitioning toward the full Project Manager role and compensation band
Progression is based on demonstrated capability, not just tenure — if you're ready sooner, we'll move sooner.
What We're Looking For
You should apply if:
- You have 1–3 years of experience in a digital, creative, or eCommerce environment — agency-side experience is a strong plus, but not required
- You're highly organised and detail-oriented — you naturally keep track of tasks, deadlines, and follow-ups without being asked twice
- You communicate clearly and confidently in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, written and verbal
- You're comfortable in a fast-paced, varied environment — one day is Shopify, the next is a mobile app, the next is a branding project
- You're proactive under pressure — you flag problems early rather than waiting for someone to ask
- You genuinely want to become a Project Manager — this role only works if you're hungry to grow into it
Good to have:
- Familiarity with ClickUp, Jira, or similar project management tools
- Exposure to Shopify or Shopify Plus
- Basic understanding of the eCommerce order-to-delivery ecosystem
- Interest in CRO, digital marketing, or account management — since you'll be exposed to all of it
Traits We're Looking For
Beyond experience and skills, here's the kind of person who thrives in this role:
- Coachable — you take feedback well and apply it quickly, without getting defensive or needing to be told the same thing twice
- Naturally organised — you keep track of details instinctively, not because a system forces you to. Sticky notes, checklists, calendars — you already have a way of not letting things slip
- Calm under pressure — when three things go wrong at once, you don't panic or shut down. You slow down, prioritise, and work through it
- Genuinely curious — you ask why not just what. You want to understand how a Shopify build actually works, not just log the tasks for it
- Comfortable asking for help — you know the difference between figuring it out yourself and wasting an hour stuck on something a 2-minute question would solve
- Reliable without supervision — if you say you'll have something done by Wednesday, it's done by Wednesday. No chasing required
- Diplomatic communicator — you can deliver a status update that includes bad news without causing panic, and you know how to ask a client for something without sounding like you're passing blame
- Hungry to grow — you see this role as the beginning of something, not a landing spot. You're already thinking about what full PM ownership looks like
- Ownership mentality, even on small tasks — whether it's a single ticket or a whole workstream, you treat it like it's yours to get right
If most of these sound like you, the technical skills are teachable. This role is built around potential and character — the tools and process knowledge come with time and mentorship.
Why Join Us
- MacBook Pro provided
- Hybrid working — mostly remote, in-office or on client site around twice a month
- Direct mentorship from our senior Project Manager
- A genuine, structured growth path to full Project Manager within 12–18 months
- Professional development and training support
- Medical, Vision, Dental, and Insurance benefits
