Job Description

About Supermom

Supermom connects modern mothers in Southeast Asia to parenting brands, powered by data and AI. We operate a parenting community platform with millions of users across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and are evolving into a data and AI-first parenting intelligence platform (SM 3.0). We partner with leading brands across baby, family, healthcare, education, finance, and lifestyle categories to reach high-intent parents — particularly mothers and women decisionmakers within the household.

Role Overview

The Sales Director, Malaysia is a hunting role focused on new business development. This person will identify, prospect, and close new brand and agency partnerships in Malaysia, with a specific mandate to grow revenue from clients targeting the family segment and women consumers.

This is an individual contributor position — the successful candidate will carry their own revenue target and build their own pipeline from the ground up, rather than managing a team. They will report into the Regional Sales Director and work in close alignment with regional strategy, while operating with a high degree of autonomy on the ground in Malaysia.

We're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset — a true go-getter who is self-motivated, resourceful, and disciplined enough to build a book of business largely on their own initiative in a fast-moving, startup-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Business Hunting

  • Proactively prospect, identify, and open new brand and agency accounts in Malaysia, with priority focus on categories that speak to the family and women's segment: baby care, FMCG, healthcare, insurance, education, and family services.
  • Build a self-sourced pipeline from scratch — cold outreach, networking, referrals, and market mapping — rather than relying primarily on inbound or inherited leads.
  • Own the full sales cycle end-to-end: prospecting, pitching, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Consistently hit and exceed individual revenue targets tied to new client acquisition.

2. Market & Category Insight

  • Act as an on-the-ground expert on Malaysian brands, agencies, and category trends relevant to the family and women's consumer segment.
  • Feed market insights back to the Regional Sales Director to inform pricing, packaging, and positioning.
  • Spot white space and untapped brand categories where Supermom can create new revenue opportunities.

3. Client Relationship Building

  • Build genuine, senior-level relationships with brand marketers, agency leads, and key decisionmakers.
  • Position Supermom as a trusted, must-have marketing partner for brands targeting Malaysian families and mothers.
  • Lay the groundwork for long-term, repeatable client relationships (handoff to account management/fulfilment teams post-close, where applicable).

4. Regional Alignment

  • Work closely with the Regional Sales Director to ensure Malaysia hunting efforts are aligned with broader regional commercial strategy.
  • Collaborate with Partnerships, B2C Marketing, and Revenue Fulfilment teams to ensure smooth handover and execution once deals are closed.
  • Provide regular, disciplined pipeline reporting and forecasting.

Success Metrics

  • New client accounts opened and closed in Malaysia
  • Net new revenue generated from the family/women's segment
  • Pipeline volume, quality, and conversion rate
  • Speed and consistency of self-sourced deal flow
  • Depth of new brand and agency relationships established

Experience

  • 7–10+ years in media sales, brand partnerships, or marketing solutions sales, ideally with a strong hunting (new business) track record rather than primarily account management.
  • Demonstrated experience selling to brand marketers and agencies in Malaysia.
  • Proven, provable history of building pipeline and closing net-new logos — not just growing existing accounts.
  • Experience or strong affinity selling into categories that reach mothers, families, or women consumers is a plus.

Market Network

  • Existing relationships with marketing leaders, brand managers, and agencies in Malaysia that can be activated quickly.

Skills

  • Strong commercial instincts and strategic thinking.
  • Excellent negotiation and consultative selling skills.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes from scratch.
  • Strong personal organization and pipeline discipline (CRM hygiene, forecasting accuracy).

Why Join Supermom

  • Be part of one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing parenting and data platforms.
  • High-autonomy role with direct ownership of your own revenue and pipeline.
  • Work with leading brands targeting one of the most valuable consumer segments — modern mothers and families.
  • Regional exposure and a direct line to the Regional Sales Director.
  • Real opportunity to shape how Supermom wins the Malaysia family and women's segment market.
