I'm currently working on an exciting Automation & Digitalization Manager opportunity with a leading multinational precision manufacturer in Malaysia. This role will front automation and digitalization projects at site level, driving deployment, efficiency, and innovation across operations.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Plant Automation & Digitalization Manager to lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of automation, vision, control, and digitalization solutions in a precision manufacturing environment. This leadership role drives smart factory transformation by managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and ensuring operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the factory's automation and digitalization roadmap.
- Lead cross‑functional engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, vision systems, IoT) to deliver projects from concept to deployment.
- Oversee automation architecture, robotics integration, vision inspection systems, and control platforms (PLC, HMI, SCADA).
- Drive Industry 4.0 initiatives including MES connectivity, IoT deployment, predictive maintenance, and digital quality records.
- Ensure compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers, integrators, and internal stakeholders to achieve cost, schedule, and performance targets.
- Champion continuous improvement through lean automation, waste reduction, and process stability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical, Electrical/Control, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 7–10 years experience in industrial automation/digitalization, with 3–5 years in leadership.
- Strong background in precision manufacturing, semiconductors, or medical devices preferred.
- Expertise in mechanical automation, robotics, PLC/HMI programming, and vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Halcon).
- Hands‑on experience with IoT platforms, MES, OPC‑UA/MQTT connectivity, and dashboarding tools.
