Automation Equipment Service Engineer

Role Description

1. Job Responsibilities

1.1 Equipment Installation, Commissioning & Acceptance

- Responsible for the installation, commissioning, trial operation, and delivery of automation equipment at customer facilities in Thailand and Malaysia.

- Perform mechanical, electrical, servo motion, sensor, and machine vision system installation and commissioning.

- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), equipment acceptance, and mass production ramp-up.

- Verify equipment performance, including UPH, cycle time, accuracy, yield, and operational stability.

1.2 Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

- Provide on-site preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair services for customers in Thailand and Malaysia.

- Independently troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, sensor, servo, and equipment communication issues.

- Analyze equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Coordinate with China-based R&D and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.

- Follow up on corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime and recurring failures.

1.3 Equipment Performance Optimization

- Monitor and improve equipment efficiency, reliability, operational stability, and production yield.

- Analyze equipment downtime, cycle time, UPH, and other key performance indicators.

- Support customers with process optimization, product changeovers, and equipment improvements.

- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and equipment reliability

1.4 Customer On-Site Technical Support

- Serve as the primary on-site technical contact between the company and customers in Thailand and Malaysia.

- Respond promptly to customer technical inquiries and coordinate with China-based engineers and relevant departments to resolve issues.

- Provide equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting training to customer operators and technicians.

- Maintain professional customer relationships and ensure high-quality technical support

1.5 Technical Documentation & Spare Parts Management

- Prepare maintenance reports, troubleshooting records, root cause analysis reports, and service documentation.

- Maintain equipment issue lists and track corrective action progress until closure.

- Assist in managing spare parts, maintenance tools, and technical documentation at customer sites in Thailand and Malaysia.

- Regularly report equipment status, project progress, and customer feedback to management.

1.6 Regional Project Support

- Provide on-site technical support at customer facilities in Bangkok, Penang, and other locations as required.

- Work closely with China-based engineers on equipment installation, commissioning, acceptance, and after-sales service.

- Support new project introductions, equipment upgrades, and customer technical training.

- Participate in technical support activities in other Southeast Asian countries as business needs develop.

2. Job Requirements

2.1 Education & Professional Experience

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial automation equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, or after-sales technical service.

- Experience with Chinese automation equipment manufacturers, semiconductor equipment, optical communication equipment, or precision electronics manufacturing is preferred.

- Previous on-site technical support experience in Thailand or Malaysia is an advantage.

2.2 Mechanical & Electrical Technical Skills

- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment technical documentation.

- Good knowledge of mechanical transmission systems, pneumatic systems, sensors, servo motors, and motion control systems.

- Ability to independently perform mechanical adjustments, electrical inspections, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting.

- Familiarity with automation equipment installation, calibration, maintenance, and performance verification.

2.3 Automation Control & Software Skills

- Basic understanding of PLC, HMI, I/O systems, servo drives, and industrial automation control systems.

- Ability to perform equipment parameter configuration, alarm diagnosis, and basic troubleshooting using machine control software.

- Experience in PLC troubleshooting, machine vision system commissioning, or industrial equipment communication is preferred.

- Knowledge of industrial cameras, vision positioning, and AOI inspection systems is an advantage.

2.4 Equipment & Process Experience

Experience with one or more of the following equipment types is preferred:

- Automated dispensing and UV curing equipment

- Automatic screw fastening and precision assembly equipment

- AOI inspection and machine vision positioning systems

- Automated loading, unloading, and material handling systems

- Semiconductor, optical transceiver module, and electronics assembly automation lines

2.5 Language & Communication Skills

- Ability to communicate effectively in English for customer interactions and technical discussions.

- Mandarin Chinese communication skills are preferred, particularly for direct coordination with China-based engineers.

- Thai or Malay language skills are an advantage.

- Strong cross-cultural communication, customer coordination, and technical reporting skills.

2.6 Personal Attributes & Other Requirements

- Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and independent problem-solving ability.

- Willingness to work on-site at customer manufacturing facilities.

- Willingness to support projects in both Thailand and Malaysia, including necessary international business travel.

- Must have appropriate legal work authorization and be able to comply with applicable work permit and travel requirements.

- Flexibility to support project deliveries, urgent equipment breakdowns, and necessary overtime.
