Job Description

Position Title: Senior Executive/ Executive – Automotive Engineer

Department: R&D

Location: Shah Alam, Selangor

Duration: Full time -Contract

Key Responsibilities:

1. Chassis System Development

  • Support the development and engineering of vehicle chassis systems, including suspension, steering, braking, wheels, tyres, and related components.
  • Assist in the design, evaluation, and improvement of chassis components to meet vehicle performance and technical requirements.
  • Review engineering specifications, drawings, technical documents, and design requirements.
  • Work closely with relevant R&D teams to ensure chassis systems are properly integrated into the overall vehicle development process.

2. Vehicle Testing and Validation

  • Support chassis-related prototype builds, vehicle testing, validation, and evaluation activities.
  • Participate in vehicle testing to assess handling, ride comfort, braking performance, steering performance, stability, and other chassis-related characteristics.
  • Analyze test results and identify potential technical issues or areas for improvement.
  • Follow up on testing issues and coordinate with relevant engineering teams to implement corrective actions.

3. Engineering Problem Solving

  • Investigate chassis-related technical problems identified during development, testing, production, or customer feedback.
  • Conduct basic root cause analysis and propose appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Work with suppliers and internal departments to resolve component and system-related issues.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of engineering improvements.

4. Engineering Change Management

  • Support the management and implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECN) / Engineering Change Requests (ECR) related to chassis systems.
  • Review and follow up on engineering changes, specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
  • Ensure approved engineering changes are properly communicated and implemented.
  • Maintain accurate technical and engineering documentation.

5. Supplier and Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with chassis component suppliers on technical requirements, product development, testing, and quality issues.
  • Participate in supplier technical discussions and follow up on engineering actions.
  • Work closely with Design, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Project Management, and other relevant departments.
  • Support technical communication and issue resolution between internal teams and suppliers.

6. Prototype and Production Support

  • Support prototype vehicle builds and ensure chassis components are available according to project requirements and schedules.
  • Participate in trial builds, pilot production, and production readiness activities.
  • Support Manufacturing and Quality teams in resolving chassis-related production issues.
  • Assist in monitoring the performance and quality of chassis components during vehicle launch.

7. Technical Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare technical reports, testing reports, issue tracking records, and project updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing results, engineering changes, technical issues, and corrective actions.
  • Provide regular updates on chassis development progress and outstanding technical issues to the Project Engineer/Project Manager.
  • Ensure engineering documentation is maintained according to company requirements.

8. Quality, Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure chassis system development activities comply with applicable quality, safety, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the identification and mitigation of technical risks related to chassis systems.
  • Participate in quality improvement and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support investigations related to chassis quality, safety, and performance concerns.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in the automotive industry, preferably in vehicle development, chassis engineering, testing, or related engineering functions.
  • Technical Knowledge: Good understanding of vehicle chassis systems, including suspension, steering, braking systems, wheels, tyres, and related components.
  • Automotive Experience: Experience in vehicle development, prototype testing, validation, production support, or automotive engineering will be an advantage.
  • Language: Mandarin is required for communication with Chinese-speaking engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders. Good command of English is also required.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify technical issues and support root cause analysis.
  • Communication: Good communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with engineering drawings, technical specifications, testing procedures, and engineering change processes.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of CAD or other automotive engineering software is an added advantage.
  • Personal Attributes: Proactive, detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Mobility: Willing to travel to suppliers, testing facilities, manufacturing plants, or other project-related locations when required.
