About the role
Join our growing team at Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad as an AVP/VP, Data Governance. In this full-time role based in Kuala Lumpur, you will play a key part in driving the bank's data governance strategy, ensuring the effective management and oversight of our critical data assets.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of robust data governance frameworks, policies and standards
- Oversee the data stewardship program, defining roles, responsibilities and accountabilities for data management
- Develop and deliver data quality assurance processes to monitor, measure and improve data quality
- Implement and manage data cataloguing, metadata management and data lineage initiatives
- Partner with business units and IT to ensure data-related risks are identified, assessed and mitigated
- Foster a data-driven culture through training, awareness and change management activities
- Provide expert advice and consultative support to senior stakeholders on data-related matters
What we're looking for
- 8+ years experience in data governance, data management or a related field, ideally within the banking or financial services sector
- Solid understanding of data governance principles, frameworks and industry best practices
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills to drive adoption of data governance initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex data issues
- Proficiency in data modelling, data lineage, metadata management and data quality assurance
- Proven track record of leading and delivering successful data governance programs
- Relevant tertiary qualification in computer science, business analytics or a related discipline
