What's the role
As a backend developer, you will join a mission team responsible for building and evolving backend services that integrate with our core enterprise systems. You'll work on the migration and modernisation of backend integrations as the business transitions toward futureready platforms.
As a junior developer, you'll be guided by senior teammates, but you are expected to contribute code independently, bring curiosity, and grow quickly into taking technical ownership of welldefined components.
This is an interesting opportunity to be involved in the ERP migration of our Market Organizations across the world.
What You'll do
- Implement backend services and integration components in line with clean code and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to the migration of existing integration flows to new architectures and patterns.
- Work with senior developers and architects to understand requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
- Write maintainable, testable code and participate in code reviews.
- Troubleshoot defects and participate in continuous improvement of system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams within Hilti's digital ecosystem.
- Develop technical depth in backend development.
- Strengthen personal organisation and work planning skills.
- Build confidence in taking end to end ownership of smaller topics.
- Grow into contributing meaningfully in architecture discussions over time.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- Strong exposure to programming fundamentals (Java and Spring Boot preferred).
- Familiarity with REST APIs, event driven concepts, or integration patterns (from coursework or projects).
- Basic knowledge of databases, cloud concepts, or version control (Git).
- Understanding of clean code principles and unit testing is a plus.
- Curious, proactive, and eager to learn.
- Strong personal organization and willingness to take responsibility.
- Team oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative environment.
- Good communication skills and willingness to ask for help early and often.
