Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute tothe development and optimization of scalable backend services. You will workacross existing and new services, collaborating with other engineers to solvetechnical problems, improve system performance and build reliable solutions. Weare looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals who is comfortable learning new technologies and actively uses modern AI development tools toimprove productivity and problem-solving

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Build and enhance applications primarily using Java.
• Develop and support microservices and distributed systems.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for containerised applications and deployments.
• Identify and resolve application performance and scalability issues.
• Integrate backend applications with other internal and external services.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews and problem-solving sessions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, learning and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders across the wider team.

Key Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms andproblem solving.
• Hands-on backend development experience using Java.
• Experience developing microservices or distributed backend applications.
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of backend application performance, scalability andtroubleshooting.
• Comfortable adopting and using AI coding/development tools within the engineering workflow.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies and solve unfamiliar technical problems independently.
