Job Brief
We are seeking a hands-on and business-oriented
Business Intelligence Analyst to join our data team. This role is ideal for someone with solid BI experience who is ready to take ownership of reporting and analytics initiatives, particularly within the
Insurance or Financial Services industry.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI and SAP Business Objects
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries (SQL Server / MySQL) for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Support regulatory and management reporting, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and audit traceability
- Work closely with stakeholders (Finance, Risk, Operations, Compliance) to translate business requirements into data solutions
- Collaborate with data engineering teams on data modelling, ETL processes (SSIS), and workflow orchestration (Airflow)
- Ensure proper data validation, reconciliation, and documentation for reporting processes
- Automate recurring reports and improve existing BI processes for efficiency and scalability
- Identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights to support business and strategic decisions
- Prepare clear technical and functional documentation for developed solutions
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related discipline
- 25 years of relevant experience as a BI Analyst / Data Analyst in Insurance, Banking, or Financial Institutions
- Experience handling regulatory reporting or working in a regulated environment (e.g., BNM reporting) is highly preferred
- Experience working with structured data in enterprise data warehouse environments
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- MySQL
- Experience in:
- SSIS (ETL development)
- Apache Airflow (workflow orchestration)
- Power BI (DAX, data modelling, dashboard design)
- SAP Business Objects
- Strong understanding of:
- Data warehousing concepts (star schema, fact/dimension modelling)
- ETL processes and data pipelines
- Data quality controls and reconciliation processes
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python) is an added advantage
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Comfortable handling large datasets with high accuracy requirements
- Able to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to manage multiple reporting deadlines, especially in regulatory environments
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership
