Position Summary:
The Business Operations Engineer supports the day-to-day operations of maintenance and turnaround services with a strong emphasis on manpower productivity, cost analysis, contractual support and regulatory compliance. This role provides data-driven insights for tenders and business estimations while serving as a critical liaison between clients, internal teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth operational and contractual execution in line with commercial, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Client, Contract & Regulatory Liaison:
- Maintain effective communication with clients technical, safety and commercial teams.
- Support the review, administration, and execution of maintenance and turnaround contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and client requirements.
- Facilitate client audits, inspections, compliance reporting and contractual correspondence.
- Coordinate with legal, insurance, and management teams on contract clarifications, risk assessments and dispute resolution.
Contractual & Commercial Support:
- Participate in the review and preparation of tender submissions, variation orders (VOs), extension of time (EOT) requests and claims documentation.
- Conduct commercial evaluations and support negotiations for contract renewals and extensions.
- Provide financial simulations and cost impact analyses to support strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to Tender Review Committee (TRC) briefs and presentations for business development initiatives.
- Support the preparation of commercial proposals with up-to-date operational and cost data.
Manpower Productivity and Competency Management:
- Track and maintain training, certification, and competency records for operational staff.
- Monitor staff attendance and productivity across project sites.
- Coordinate training programs and competency assessments aligned with client and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain competency matrices to support workforce development and project compliance.
Cost Data Collection & Analysis:
- Gather and analyze cost data related to labor, materials, and subcontractor services.
- Identify trends, deviations, and optimization opportunities in operational spending.
- Support estimation and tender teams with accurate, data-driven cost insights.
Operational Support:
- Assist with Coordinate between clients, subcontractors, and internal departments for seamless project execution.
- Maintain project and operational records to support audits, compliance, and management reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across operations, commercial, and business processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field).
- Minimum 5-8 years experience in operations support within oil & gas or heavy industry maintenance services.
- Solid knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and manpower competency management.
- Proficient in data analysis, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
