Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Cantonese OPI/VRI Interpreter. The interpreter will provide real-time, accurate, and impartial interpretation between Cantonese and English over the phone (OPI) and via video (VRI) for clients in sectors such as healthcare, government, business, and customer support. Daily responsibilities include listening carefully, conveying messages faithfully without omissions or additions, and maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. The role involves managing scheduled and on-demand interpretation sessions, following client-specific protocols, and documenting session details when required. The interpreter will also collaborate with coordinators and supervisors, use designated platforms and tools, and participate in ongoing training to maintain language proficiency and interpretation quality.

Qualifications

• Strong Cantonese and English language proficiency, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension skills.
• Prior experience in OPI/VRI or community interpreting, especially in healthcare, legal, or social services settings is a plus.
• Ability to maintain neutrality, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality while interpreting.
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and calm phone and video presence.
• Comfort with using remote platforms, video conferencing tools, and basic computer applications.
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, private workspace suitable for remote interpretation.
• Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to handle consecutive interpretation in fast-paced environments.
• Relevant training or certification in interpreting or translation is preferred; experience with AI-powered language tools is a plus.
